In the next 10 years my spouse and I plan on opening up a restaurant/cafe. I need to learn the 'business' side of it and I've started college, however I think it's not going to help as much as on-the-job-training. What would you recommend??

Getting a job as a manager and ACTUALLY use these next few years doing hands-on learning?

Or..

Go to college? And get 'ojt'.

I am hoping to start up an eatery (almost like a deli) business and I am wondering how much money (in Canadain curency) it would cost to start up a business. I live in the suburbs so it should be easier. I want mostly numbers, but info would also be good and if possible tell me how you figured it out (list sources). Also if posible, spread it out into categories. e.g. how much does it cost to rent the building? how much does it cost to get the minimum amount of equipment, how much does it cost to hire employees and how many etc.

I live in Georgetown, Kentucky and I am thinking about quitting my job to babysit in my home. I hate my desk job and I love working with children. (I worked in a daycare for 2 years and have been babysitting for about 10 years.) I've looked into this previously so I'm not really looking for 'How To.' I know about licensure, child/adult ratio, etc. I'm just wondering - in your experience - what were the pros and cons to doing this type of work? My biggest concern at this point is about getting sick, having a family emergency, wanting to take a vacation, that kind of thing. It won't be as easy to do since the parents would just be stuck if I wasn't available. Any advice or suggestions? Thank you!

I have an idea of a store where you can walk in and choose X amount of gift items, the type of basket or bag you would like, and have it nicely put together for you while you enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks. Prices would be based on the number and type of items you choose. The atmosphere will be more like a spa instead of a cheap Dollar store.

Our real estate firm has planned a limited investment opportunity involving a fixed 35% ROI, a 100-day term, all backed by equity in real property.
What type of professional might you recommend for us to use to market this opportunity correctly? Financial adviser? Fund manager? Attorney?
This is only a temporary offer that we will be making available over the next several weeks, but we still want to be sure to do it correctly and efficiently. We also want to be sure that when we start advertising the offer, that we are in compliance with any S.E.C. rules that would apply.
Any responses or emails with your input would be appreciated.

I'm a normal college student, with normal wants/needs and a normal budget, which means I have nothing.

I'm always told that I'm gifted at being a videographer and I am beginning to consider using my talents for a source of income, I would do events and weddings to start.

I was wondering if there was someone who could point me in the right direction of where to start, or if there is someone who has experience in this trade.

Any help would be most appreaciated.

Hi- I am the owner of a small business and I use Quickbooks. I started out freelancing and now I have so many projects that i have another consultant working with me. Our hours are billable on some projects and some projects are set rates.

How am I supposed tobe doing payroll? Are we supposed to get a certain percentage- say 45% of the project in as checks and the the rest goes into the business account? And do I remove expenses first- for example- If I found the project on a site that charges monthly access fees, do i remove those fees before processing payroll?
