I live in California. I want to open small business i.e restaurant or coffee shop... I would like to know in advance who are the customers that live near there, how many other competitors within 2 miles radius...etc.

Can you point out the company or website that I can go to for this type of info?

You have the right thinking strategically. You need to do a full SWOT analysis. That stands for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats. There are several sources for information but are costly. However, if you are not a university student, go to a public library, get on its computer, and navigate to Reference USA. It is free to schools and libraries, otherwise it is known as InfoUsa and costs a ton. You can also do a map, use the phone book, etc. Check age and income information through county or state census tract records. However, Reference USA will give you sales information. Seriously, do get too much into the planning but do a basic business plan. There are books available inexpensively online and at B&N, etc. Good Luck!
