What business would it be?

2007-02-10 08:38:36 · 6 answers · asked by Anonymous

(Serious answers only, please)

Looking for suggestions to further grow a small business that I started 2 years ago. I have tried ads in the paper, and networking at chamber of commerce meeting, but no big luck. Most business is by word of mouth. I have a few contracts that came from those who found the website. I offer a referral bonus to people.

Looking to be more recognized by clients and advertising agencies as a cost-effective solution for unique promotions.

THE BUSINESS: We design and mfr custom car fresheners, screen print or laser printed. It is like a mobile bill-board. You can get them for less than the cost of a personalized bic pen, depending upon # of colors, qty. ordered, etc. 600 shapes to choose from, 25 scents to choose from. I have done some for many large companies, see info at :

Recent customers: Harley Davidson, Grundy, University of Wisconsin, etc.....

im 16 and want to open my own business in the next few years, i have a few ideas at present but am not sure which one would be the best to start i.e. start up capital, time devotion and work is needed.
the idea im really considering at present is selling clothes from new and upcoming designers so that people can wear the best quality clothes at an affordable price while there will still be a quite reasonable profit to be made!
the only problem is i am not sure how i would like to start it i.e. on the internet, from home, or in a retail outlet. the idea of starting on the net is quite daunting as i heard what happened to boo.com a number of years ago , but i wouldnt be making the same mistakes as my site would be simple and easy to navigate.
if this idea got up and running would it be best to buy when peole order stock at first and then when i start to see a trend from a particular designer i would order from them without orders placed as they seem to be selling?
good or bad idea?

If you and your significant other wanted to start a business, and one person agreed to keep working their Day Job, while the other stayed home to work the business, would the business turn into belonging to the one that stays home to work it, or would the business be both of theirs since they are both doing their part of what they agreed to do in order to have the business?

My friends and I are thinking of starting a cleaning business for commercial, but we don't know where to start. How much do we charge to clean an office or office building for sq ft for the basics such as vacum, sweep, wipe down, dust, bathrooms, etc. What's the best way to get our name out there? Any suggestions would be GREAT!!!

I am hoping to start up an eatery (almost like a deli) business and I am wondering how much money (in Canadain curency) it would cost to start up a business. I live in the suburbs so it should be easier. I want mostly numbers, but info would also be good and if possible tell me how you figured it out (list sources). Also if posible, spread it out into categories. e.g. how much does it cost to rent the building? how much does it cost to get the minimum amount of equipment, how much does it cost to hire employees and how many etc.

I want to open a place in NYC thats a restuarant in the day and then closes for about half an hour and reopens at night as a night club. What are the chances of this not failing? How can I make it better and less likely to fail?
