okay, I always walk around the mall, really busy malls, and see stores like hair salon, or little accesories kiosk, with litterally no customers. My question is, how can a business like that can manage to pay the rent, and make a profit at the same time?

I am about to graduate from Uni and am toying with the idea of starting my own Courier firm. I have my eye on a good VW Transporter van (the VW equivalent of a Transit van) with which to start, myself as the driver (so basically, for a while, I'd be a long-distance white man man!). As I progress I would buy better and bigger vehicles whilst offering the same good, reliable and personal service.

I have a gimmick which I believe will put me ahead of rival, more established firms (nothing big, just enough to give me a bump start in to the market).

So what is involved, after I buy my own van- or is that really all there is to it (obviously including the right insurance etc etc).

Thanks!

I have a web development business and I was thinking about hiring a couple of salesmen to sell my services. Do you think it's a good idea? What are the risks involved and how should I deal with them?

Their job will be to visit local businesses and offer my services to them. They will earn about 50% of the sale. For example, my main web design package costs $1099 USD and they can get a commission of about 500 for it. The reason I don't want to to this by myself is because I'm NOT good at selling, I'm a shy type of person and also, I think I can earn much more if I have someone doing the selling for me while I focus at what I do best, web design. Thanks for your comments and ideas...

I have an interior design business called Aha! Interiors and am located in Sunnyvale, CA. I have been licensed with the county since 1999 and have a website and yellow page advertisements. I work full time and my business is thriving.

I recently discovered that a new interior design business has opened in Sunnyvale with the name of Aaahh Interiors and is registered with the county since November of 2006. I am very concerned that there will be considerable confusion among the public with our two businesses having such similar names, especially since we are in the same city.

I have the name of the business owner, but nothing else. I cannot find any web presence and they are not listed in the phone book. I am not sure how to contact them. I am also not sure if I have any legal rights regarding this problem. Any information or suggestions you would have would be helpful!

I have a full time job with a fair amount of spare time during the day. I'm looking for a second income. I'd be happy with a couple of hundred pounds per week profit in the first year and I am willing to borrow £10-£20k if need be to get started, I'm willing to take the risk; I've got nothing to lose.
I'm a man in my mid twentys, still live at home and have got a fairly well paid job during the day.
I live in quite a well-off town/village 10 miles from Glasgow, Scotland.
Some examples I have come up with myself have been a sandwich/food shop, a hair salon or something similar, and have someone else run it or just work in it. I have no experience in these businesses.
I'm still at the brain-storming stage and need some good ideas.
