Looking for suggestions to further grow a small business that I started 2 years ago. I have tried ads in the paper, and networking at chamber of commerce meeting, but no big luck. Most business is by word of mouth. I have a few contracts that came from those who found the website. I offer a referral bonus to people.

Looking to be more recognized by clients and advertising agencies as a cost-effective solution for unique promotions.

THE BUSINESS: We design and mfr custom car fresheners, screen print or laser printed. It is like a mobile bill-board. You can get them for less than the cost of a personalized bic pen, depending upon # of colors, qty. ordered, etc. 600 shapes to choose from, 25 scents to choose from. I have done some for many large companies, see info at :

Recent customers: Harley Davidson, Grundy, University of Wisconsin, etc.....

There is no way to tackle all markets at the same time. I see that you have worked with diverse markets already. This is good but how is the relationship side of working with your customers? HD for example is a power house for marketing sales. What made them like you? Why did your product appeal to them? Will they put it in writing? Advertising agencies try to pull in larger ticket items for profit.

It seems that you can tackle more of these markets on your own by selectively picking the markets to pitch.

Used cars- try making samples for local auto auction houses to put in the cars they are selling for that day then make the fresheners all advertising but don't forget to put the auction houses' name on it somewhere. Note: used cars orders COD

New car dealerships will be harder to pitch due to the fact you would have to visit each one. Remember they go to auto auctions too.

Larger companies like Ford or HD or ect.. Offer multiple shapes and sayings and offer a merchandiser with it, complete package with reorder numbers that come back to you not the OEM for fulfillment. This requires quite a bit of time and storage on your behalf but offers the customer a great product that they sell hands off. Billing will have to set up per account as each will want it handled differently. A lot of work to set up but the orders come in regularly, smaller qty per sale but larger qty per run. Contract the offer time to the OEM so they don't pull the product and leave you sitting with junk.

You have to take each market step by step. And never compromise on quality.

Wow! I'm checking out your website! This sounds awesome to me.
I think all you need to do is get your products into promotional catalogs. A friend of mine runs a promotions business, gets your logo on clothing, glasses, pens, golf gadgets, etc. and she has loads of catalogs. I can ask her for some names of companies you could contact to get into their catalogs.
I find face to face presentations are the most effective. Make appointments and visit with other large companies and see what you can do!
All the very best to you.

Hi,

You have a good service with such a generic use that, unless you segment the market (e.g., cars, schools, fundraisers, etc.) and address each market with focus separately, with well-created sales pages, you may be selling only sub-optimally.

This is a lot of hard work, but should be well worth it. You can try with one before over-stretching.

If you can't do itself, consult someone who can do this for you.
