i think a good start would be independent shops in your local area, i'm not an expert but from watching "the apprentice" that's what they did and were warned off larger chain stores as it takes so long to get a meeting with them, plus if you've got a proven sales record you're more likely to get into the other shops.

i think going local in the first incidence would be more beneficial to you as you'll be able to provide a high level of customer service while you get established.
