I'm launching a nonprofit within the year. I have 10 members/workers. We are looking for a large scale fundraiser that will bring in over $10,000 for charity. What kind of events would you suggest (things like carnivals and 5ks)?

Will this endeavor be a true nonprofit, charity. See the IRS rules on definitions,it can get very legal and touchy.
You salary will be what percentage of the donations? How much will actually go the charity as a percent? What are your workers doing now? How are they being paid.
Are you sure this will not become a scam? Be careful, the road to hell is lined with good intentions.

Idea's would come easier if I knew what the non-profit will be.
The best kick off for a Non-Profit fundraiser would be something that the Non-Profit would continue annually, Golf Outings are a great fundraiser, if you're not into golf, have an Annual Auction, where businesses donate new items, like TV's, Vacation Packages, Gift Cards, furniture....anything really then hold the event in a classy "donated" ballroom or hall, add some entertainment, a great caterer that is willing to donate to the event and the night will be a success. Best of Luck!

Try something easy, like a kid-made T-shirt auction, with all of the shirts starting at $20. Charge tickets to get in, and serve food and drinks with donations. Make sure that everyone gets something when they leave, like a mug or glass that they got with the ticket price.
