I'm a normal college student, with normal wants/needs and a normal budget, which means I have nothing.

I'm always told that I'm gifted at being a videographer and I am beginning to consider using my talents for a source of income, I would do events and weddings to start.

I was wondering if there was someone who could point me in the right direction of where to start, or if there is someone who has experience in this trade.

Any help would be most appreaciated.

First you are going to need a reel or demo to provide. Many brides are getting savvy in this area and now know to ask to see the raw footage as well as the final cut. If you don't have a reel put together get a few weddings under your belt. You might want to start offering your services for free to family and friends just so you have a variety of wedding styles. Also contact every wedding coordinator in your area and event planners from some of the popular wedding facilities like resort hotels. Let them know you're available. Be sure you have good references as well.
You might want to post this question on Martha Stewart's Wedding message board. You'll find some real life horror stories there which may help you avoid some pitfalls in the beginning. Good luck.
