I live in a low income housing community, where you have to make under a certain amount in order for you to qualify for an apartment (no, not section 8)- it's just apartment's for a lower amount, based on your income.I got a notice saying they were going to 'audit' my apt. what does that mean exactly ? Are they going to review my apt? Or are they going to like examine EVERYTHING ? are they going to go through my drawers & stuff like that ? scary.Ive got nothing to hide, but still it's a little invasive ya know ?

There is a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath that is on the market for 78,900. A few months ago it was listed at 109,000, it was off the market for a while due to a bid going bad. How much should I offer? Is it a good price considering they went 25,000 less? I live in Michigan.

*My spouse lives like a single person when he is not at home. He gets strange phone calls and text messages. He has a bad temper and says he does not care about any of us and does not want to be here. He will frequently attack at least one of the children physically and all of us verbally.
*He has not asked for divorce. When I ask him about it, he denies it. I think he is just plotting his way out.
*Many of my personal belongings have disappeared. I think he gave them all away.
*I want to leave before the stuff hits the fan. I don't want to be surprised and left with nothing and nowhere to go with a bunch of kids.
*I think I have about 3 months according to his behavior.
*Can I just leave, take every stick of furniture/appliances/hardware, etc. left in the house, serve him with divorce papers, then demand that our house be used for rental property and extra income or should it be sold, or should he buy me out? What's best?
*Where to find a new low cost rental home for 5

7 yrs. ago my husband and I bought our 1st home thru a mortgage broker. We refinanced to get our payments lowered 4 yrs. later. We were uninformed at the time and the shady mortgage broker we went thru appraised our house for more than what it was actually worth then on top of that we got an adjustable rate loan. Now to the present, our interest rate is 12.9%, we our in a house that is not worth what we owe, and it was supposed to be a stepping stone not our dream home, which it is NOT at all. My husbands grandfather is giving us his house and property when he is gone. He has decided that we can move in now with no strings. My husbands name is already on the property. We are thinking we should just let this house forclose but we don't know what happens to people when they do this. Do you end up having to pay huge amounts of money to the lender? If they sue you what can they get? What is the worst case senerio?

We purchased a home 18 months ago and just realized an extensive foundation crack. The previous home owner stated that previous water damage had occurred, but that he fixed it. Since we purchased the home during the dryer (summer) months and the room was finished, no problems were identified. During the spring we did notice some water in the carpet. Recently after heavy rains, the room became flooded. We pulled back the carpet only to realize a large crack the length of the floor. Furthermore, the carpet wood tack was completely rotten from water damage. It is clear this was not recent structural damage and the previous home owner had knowledge. Do I have legal recourse?

I moved out of my apartment a few days before my 30 day notification and the owner of my apartment is refusing to give me back my $1,000 deposit. I spoke with the landlord and gave him a verbal notice of 30 days but my written statement was only about 23 days in advance. Now the owner says that I breached the contract and he won't return my deposit. I had always paid my rent on time and I was such a great tenant..I don't know what to do..I'm not a rich person and I can't afford to lose that money. What should I do? Thanks...

First off, please don't give me your opinion, unless it is backed by reference to a legal document...

If 2 people live together...they sign a lease, with intentions of them both staying the full term of the lease (1 year)...1 roommate decides to move out after 6 months...does the roommate staying there have any sort of legal say over the person to replace the roommate?

If the 2nd roommate moves out, without finding a replacement, is he still legally responsible for his share of the rent to the Realtor? or will it fall on the roommate still living there? meaning, does the first roommate have to pay the entire rent to not get kicked out, and it will be on him to collect from the roommate who moved out?

PLEASE provide a link to a legal reference. this is in Boston MA if that makes any difference.

Thanks
