a title search will list all previous owners.

Go to the county courthouse and head on down to the Assessor's Office...there you will need to the PRC or the Property Record Card...you will need to know the current owner's name (or the address sometimes works - if you only know the address you will have to go to the mapping department)...if the previous owner is not listed on the PRC, then you will need to take a copy of the card down to the Recorder's Office...the Deed Book/Page numbers will be listed on the PRC and the Recorder will point you towards the Deed with this information...the names should be on that deed...I am a real estate appraiser and we have to search for this information on every assignment...we do it for the "Sales History"...

County Seat Courthouse has a Registrar of Deeds. Interesting searching past owners of property.

If your county tax office has a website you can also look on-line under property search,it should have the previous owners listed.I do real estate and look all the time.
