can we do anything to get it back? I think we have approx. 2 months left on the sell option. My husband is a Jouneyman Carpenter who did lose his job in the spring. He is now doing side jobs to make money. I am on SSDI and will be continued on that.

Check to see what, if any, Redemption period you have. In many states it is about 6 months. Iva Ben has it right.. no matter what the redemption period is you will have to pay ALL costs to get your property back.

Since you mentioned Sheriff's sale, it sounds like Rice County sold it for back taxes. If this is the case, then it is likely that you are also behind on your mortgage and you will have a foreclosure coming soon on that also if you do manage to redeem it from the county.

Your best option might just be to sell it TODAY for what you can. Hopefully enough to pay outstanding mortgage balance and to redeem it from Sheriff's sale.

House is sold, there are new owners nothing you can do about it unless they put for sale. you will of course owe the difference in what it sold for and the amount of the mortgage, unless they forgive the difference in which you will owe taxes on that amount. That amount will be stated as unearned income which is taxed at teh bonus rate of (including federal, state and local) approximately 36%

Check to see if MN has a redemption period on foreclosed property. If it does you can get it back IF you have the CAHS to pay the full amout of the loan and any foreclosure fees.

I am not sure what your point is. If the house was sold at auction by the sheriff, someone else now owns it.
