no the deposit should be returned after the lease ends and a walk thru is done by the tenant and the land lord to see if there are any damages make sure you take a video and get the landlord on tape saying every thing is in good shape landlords never give back the deposit for some reson so your best bet is to not pay your last months rent and let him worry about suing you they always come up with some lame reson not to pay all the time its what they do

Not only can you not ask for 1/2 your deposit back, if you go back and read your lease, you are still EQUALLY responsible for all rent, and any damages....whether you lived there or not.
It was very foolish to move out and leave your name on the lease. You should have asked you former partner to see if the landlord would re-qualify her for the rent by herself...this is the only time when a landlord is willing to remove a name off the lease.

The person who moved out would still be responsible for all obligations under the terms of the lease. Moving does not relieve the tenant of liability. Since there could still be damage to the premises during the remainder of the lease term, the deposit would not be returned unless the landlord voluntarily agrees to return it or the co-tenant pays it.

No. If one moves out and the other agrees to take over the full tenancy, then the one who moves out gets the half of the security from the other tenant. The landlord keeps the security until the entire tenancy is ended.

Demand no! If you are entiteled to it you may make arrangement with owner that when its paid you get your half. If someone moves in in your place you could ask them to buy you out of your half.
