Background: the neighbor is in debt to their eyeballs... Home equity line of credit, cars, car lease etc. I was just wondering what would happen if I offered to buy their house for less than appraisal value? IS this legit? can this be done to stop the bank from taking the house?

He said he contacted the mortgage co. & his lawyer filed a special warranty of deed to remove me from the mortgage. So last week i went to purchase a car & found that I am still on the mortgage & he has been late on the payment several times in the past 2 years. I called the mortgage co. & they say that they dont care what a judge has ordered I am still liable until he refinances the loan. So basically my question is I am at my ex's mercy until the loan is refinanced??? & it doesnt matter what the divorce decree says about him being soley financially responsible for all debts on this house??????

My mother passed September 8, 2006. Per her will my stepfather is living out his days in her house. Who knows how long this will be. The will appears to list him as the executor of the estate. Where does this leave my brother and me as we will eventually have to settle this between ourselves. Can my stepfather sell the house without consulting us? What rights do we have concerning my mother's will? We never received a formal reading of the will after her death. Is there a time limit for this? I can't get hold of him by phone. I live in Omaha, NE so I can't just hop in the car and make a quick trip. My brother lives in Houston, TX but has a full life and is not too concerned with this matter. Please advise in this matter. I have written the lawyer who filed the will but never heard back from him. There is the house, the land and other antiques and possesions inside to consider. Thank you

I'm gonna sell my house.. I need some help!?
Hi guys! I'm gonna sell my house but its became like a math question actually!! well I want to reconstruct my house with partnership of someone..
the numbers are not real and everything is supposed to be equal..
here is the question: lets suppose my house worths $ 1700 , my partner says he pays $ 800 for construction material , and give me $ 450 for my own packet.. what he's sayin is , if he pays that $ 450 the equation becomes like this: (for me) 1700 - 450 = $ 1250 & for him 800 + 450 = $ 1250 but i guess he's double counting his share of $ 450 !!
why? becoz he should put $ 800 (for construction materials) + $ 900 (more in order to become equal with compared to my share) so we will have $ 1700 (me) = $ 1700 (him)
but he says when i put $ 450 for ur packet ur share already becomes $ 1250 & my partner has already paid $ 450 + 800 for construction materials so we are equal..!! i dont gettt ittt! plzzz help me out!

How do you go about buying a foreclosed home? I see ads for foreclosed homes for 200,000 or 300,000 dollars when their worth twice that. Does that mean I give the seller/bank that much money and I get the house? I'm sure I'm missing something here. If possible please provide a link so I can get more info.

My father has terminal cancer and isn't expected to live very much longer. He was living in a townhouse by himself until he got really sick last week and now is living in a hospice facility. He signed the lease for his apartment in February and it is for a year. My sister called the rental company Friday and they told her that we (our family) are still liable for the rent because my father is still living. Keep in mind that my father is the only person listed on any of the paperwork concerning the townhouse. Do we still have to pay?

My next door neighbor's mother lived with him for over a decade. Her mom died in March. My neighbor told me she isn't sure he had a will. The property has been paid for already. Who will I pay my rent to next month? Should I just keep the rent in a safe place until things smooth out? How long will it take to establish who now owns the property? Will my rent go up? There was no lease, month to month only. It's a huge place and the rent was cheap.... I hope I dont have to move.... Don't get me wrong, I feel bad about our landlord dieing, but we still need to keep a roof over our heads too:(
