I was taken to court by my landlord for unpaid rent. That rent has been paid but now it affects me getting a new apartment because it shows up on my rental report.

You can't have it removed. All you can do is insure that it states that the matter has been resolved, but the fact that it occurred will remain in your credit/rental history for some period of time yet.

I would work with the landlord to get some sort of letter stating it had all been paid that you could use to get the entry updated on your credit report.

I recommend then checking your rental history report to see what landlords can see about you. Check out myrentalhistoryreport.com to get your current one and see if its still on there.

Hopefully a letter from that landlord might be the quickest. You can also do a Google or ask.com search. TransUnion and Equifax are two major (out of three, forgot the third one) credit companies that are used for credit checks. Hopefully this helps.
