Prior to any foreclosure action being generated by a lender and notice being duly posted where required, it is considered a violation of privacy to publicly indicate that a homeowner may be in financial straits. The first public indication of a foreclosure action is the notice required to be published in a newspaper by the agents of the lender generating the foreclosure action.

You can watch the newspaper and also check various county websites. Some of them maintain listings on their sites of foreclosure notices posted.
