I understand you being apprehensive over this issue. However, if only the receipt for the two week period is missing perhaps it is not a huge issue. Definitely get receipts in the future. Possibly at a better time you could offhandedly remind the landlady that you are missing the receipt for this two week period. If it was truly an oversight perhaps she is not even aware that she failed to give you a receipt for that period. In the future it would be best to pay with check or money order, as they provide a build in receipt for you. GOOD LUCK

Landlord Receipt

Never ever pay just cash. Get a money order or check. That way you have proof on YOUR end that you did pay even though the LL did not give you a rent receipt.

Why didn't you get a rent receipt? If you handed her cash you should have waited for the receipt. If you dropped off cash then you have no real proof that you DID pay.

Sorry!

Pay your landlord with a money order or a check so that you will have a record. If they insist on cash without giving you a receipt then you can be sure they aren't claiming the income they are getting from you. Turn them over to the IRS

You should never pay rent without a check or money order, that's your receipt. Requesting a receipt is just good business. Tell them your apply for a grant and you need rent receipts.. Best of luck, by the way I am a landlord.

Why are you paying in CASH? Never pay a LL in cash
get money orders from the post office. I don't know what you will do. It will depnd on who is most beleiveable in a court if she takes it that far. Thats why paying monthly is best.

You can wait a day and ask her for one saying you need proof for some social program that you pay rent.

Doubtful they will accept over 1 year in advance. Most leases run one year and then go month to month - allowing the landlord to increase the rent. Since paying in advance would preclude raising the rent at the one year mark, this would work to the landlord's detriment at that point.

I agree with the others... Im not sure you can go back in the past but this happend to my friend. Yes they prolly want cash for an IRS reason.

I had my friend prepare their own receipt and have them sign it when they gave the cash. It worked well for them. If they dont give you a receipt common sense just tells you to prepare one for them.

Pay with checks or money orders...tell her you want the receipt for tax purposes. Make sure if you pay with cash, you get a receipt.
