On Saturday I signed what I thought was an Offer to Buy a House. The cooling-off period was explained and that it would cost me 0.25% of the Purchse price if I changed my mind. I have now changed my mind! The Real Estate Agent tells me it was actually a contract that I signed and as the vendor accepted my offer I am noe liable for 0.25% of the Purchase Price. Is this right?

We are buying a house with a Veterans Affairs mortage, and we were wondering what the inspector will be looking for. Does anyone have a checklist or know where to find one? Or if you are an inspector, can you offer any knowledge?

I am 2 months behind in my rent, due to losing my job. I can't pay the current months rent, and I know I'll fall further behind next month. Is it possible to talk with the landlord and ask to leave BEFORE they start a formal eviction? I do not have a lease, I rent month to month. Thank you!!!!

I seem to remember not so long agao that in Scotland there was protection from gazumping but NOT in England and Wales. I was just wondering if this was still the case or had some new law been introduced to protect buyers. Any direct or indirect information would be gratefully received. Many thanks.

We have just found out that the vendor has accepted another offer at £7000 more than ours and so we are in a contract race. Our solicitors are worse than useless and I am close to losing my marbles. Any ideas how I can keep them? I just need to take my mind off everything for a while. (Sympathy very welcome too!)

paying job. In about a year or so, I will be interested in buying my first house. Will I qualify? And what kind of house will I be able to afford, I will probably make around 40-50k/yr for now. My bf and I will most likely get married, as well, and his scenario is similiar to mine as far as credit score, but he will probably make around 30-40k. He also is a vet, so we will have the VA loan opportunity, should we take that option or the First-time home buyers loan. Please give me some guidance so I can have a realistic idea of what kind of home we will be able to afford. Thanks.

My wife and I are buying a house which has as of yet to be finished. It has appreciated $30,000 since we bought the land and we would like to close with the seller's preferred lender to get all the incentives but would like to refinance right away. Is this possible? And if so how would I do it? Thanks!

(This is actually a bit embarrassing to write about...) Anyways, I am concerned that I could get evicted...If the neighbors don't compain to the managment office, do the police give a reoprt to managment or anything like that??

We live in a very expensive state/city... and we're going to move to Texas. (his family is from there and we can stay at their house during the transition...)
We have a house here that we are going to sell and make some good money on that, however, my question is. Once we are over there and we have the downpayment to buy a house (more than enough) would we be qualified for a loan if we just moved to the state and started new jobs? Thanks in advance.

my husband and i were in the process of buying a home, but backed out. we found this guy who is a broker/realtor who did our credit report and apprasial and showed us some houses. he told us the we would need to write him a check of $707.00 for the closing cost or something like that, but he never said he was going to cash it right away. so one week later, he cashed it without letting us know to have time to put money in the account. which made us angry. were we suppose to pay him? so i asked him for a refund and he said he can only refund the apprasial money but not the credit report. how much is a credit report? im so lost and angry right now, was he suppose to take money from us? please help me out, were young and dont know if this guy is just playing us.
