I have been asked to re-point a house, but it has been a long time since I last did one, and I am unsure what the current price is for such work at todays rate, can anyone help, Pete.

This depends on where you live as to the rates you can charge but in Sussex I paid around £30 sq mtr plus scaffolding just recently. Wish I could have got the Lancashire rate. They did use a dust extraction router though which did keep the dust down a bit.

Had to laugh when the guy who said "real estate" said he'd never heard of "repointing".... I'm betting he's from the USA and they don't really do brick houses, so he wouldn't know about repointing - or effectively removing old mortar between bricks and replacing it.

Sorry - can't help with todays rate for sure, but I had to pay £600 for 5 days replastering/skimming some walls and repointing a chimney breast (1 day of the total) - feel ripped off!

very difficult to answer you dont say how big the house is, Is it one storey or two or 3, But i think if you do it hourly 3 pounds an hour is fair, if you do it on a daily wage work out what you think you are worth,

it's two pounds a hour for re-pointing. And that doesn't include tea breaks.
