I have recently purchased a terraced property where the bathroom is downstairs, upstairs there is 3 bedrooms although one is quite small and located off the main bedroom, if I turn this into an ensuite will this devalue the property as now it would only be a 2 bedroom house?

We are looking to rent a home in the Boston area. We are looking for a great family environment, excellent schools and something close to public transportation for a quick commute to downtown. We know virtually nothing about the area. HELP!!

I'm looking to buy a house. My agent wants us to sign a Buyer Agency agreement where I pay her a retainer and a "success fee" when we buy a house. I was pretty clear that the agent always makes their money from the commission the seller pays. That's been the way we've seen it in the past. Is this a new trend or do I need to get a new agent fast?

I want to buy my parent's house for 95000 but the house was appraised at 266000. I am trying to do a purchase contract. Is it possible to put the selling price as 200000 and that they are giving me a gift of equity of 105000 or do I have to stay as close to the appraisal number?

If a landlord ask for first and last months rent plus an extra month and a security deposit when would my first payment be due? Also does anyone else think this is a bit extreme?

OK here goes. My electric bill has been 8.00 - 9.00 for the past year. I have had someone to come out and check my box to make sure that it was not stuck and running right. (I live in an apartment) The tech said it was OK and I got a letter to verify it.
I found out last week that my neighbor upstairs has the same bill.
Am I going to be responsible for the money owed when the meter adjusts itself?

Our credit sucks but rental history ok as is job stability. We can only afford at most 600.00 month and have absolutely no money to put down. I owned a home when I married my current spouse but lost it in 2004. So I don't qualify for first time buyer but does my husband? He wasn't on mortgage but we had married.

My wife and I are searching for our first home, but have come to realise we probably can't afford exactly what we want.
We have no kids at present, but may start a family in a couple of years. We plan to live in the home for 4-5 years, then hopefully buy another home and rent the first one. For our needs - and to maximise rental interest down the track - what is it best to compromise on? Lot size (ie 320m2 instead of 450m2)? Number of bedrooms (ie 3 rather than 4)? Number of bathrooms (ie 1 rather than 2)? Location (ie closer to highway)? Anything else?

My fiance and I (both 18, living in Australia) finally got approved for a house (renting) and we move out in two days! It is so sudden and now I wonder if we can cope. Emotionally, I know we can. We're a strong couple who've been together for over 3 years and work so well (same goals too). I earn less (I'm a University Student as well - very demanding course) and he works full time. Together we earn $650 per week. Our rent is $250/week. Can we afford this alongside transportation costs, electricity, mobile phones bills, internet, groceries, etc?

I am beginning to feel worried. According to my budget we can afford it (but we'd be tight). What is your opinion. Please only give helpful feedback!

Thank you in advance.

Current stats:
Rent-$535
Water/Trash-$30
Electric-$70
Required Rental Insurance-$20
TOTAL:$655 per month/$7860 per year

Stats for different apt:
Rent-$430
Water/Trash-Included
Electric-$70(smaller place,no icemaker or dishwasher to use, window AC/heating units so we can use better climate control, but washer/dryer connections which we don't have now)
Rental Insurance-not required
TOTAL:$500 per month/$6000 per year

We're currently living in an apartment that is as much as we're willing to pay for an apartment. It's nice, but not one of the overly pretty brand-new complexes in town. The next one bedroom apts up from this one cost $700-900.One step lower that we'd be willing to live in(not drug infested, rundown)would be the apt for $430.We're wanting to save to buy a house hopefully in the next 5 years. Question:Is the $1860 savings per year worth moving to a slightly smaller apartment & going through all the stresses(financially, mentally, physically) of a move?

I have enough savings to do an outright purchase of a newly completed house in India whereas the other option is to take loans for that amount for 10 years. What should I do ? If I am a conservative investor which option would you advise. Should I go for a loan or should I do an outright purchase ?
