OK here goes. My electric bill has been 8.00 - 9.00 for the past year. I have had someone to come out and check my box to make sure that it was not stuck and running right. (I live in an apartment) The tech said it was OK and I got a letter to verify it.
I found out last week that my neighbor upstairs has the same bill.
Am I going to be responsible for the money owed when the meter adjusts itself?

I have talked to the electric company aboout 5-6 times. Not to mention the fact that I do see the tech checking the meter.

I don't think you will be held responsible. However, I would call the electric company one more time and tell them your concern. Keep a record of conversation so you can show them at least you tried.

So what if your neighbor has the same bill?

Regarding you own bills, its good that you got a letter to verify it though, because if there are any problems, you will 100% be stuck with a HUGE bill when they figure out what is wrong with the meter. One time I lived in an apartment and we got 20.00 electric bills for three months and then they sent one for 895.00 saying they had "miscalculated" the bills for three months prior. We had to pay for their stupidity. I recommend you use all that extra money you saved off their dumbness and MOVE NOW, then they will make the new tenant pay the back load!

in apartments the bill is usually lower, however if u look on ur bill and if the reading does not state "actual reading" then YES, u will be held responsible for paying whatever balance is owed. Make sure ur bill is stating "actual" and if its not u can call and verify why they are not doing actual meter readings.
