I need some advice on which locations in the Northern VA area or the DC metro area would be the perfect place to buy a 1 BR condo... Arlington? Reston? DC? Fairfax?

Also - is it better to buy an older one for cheaper and renovate before selling OR better to buy a brand new?

Much appreciated...

Like what happens if the person you try to keep secret from your apartment management would not pay you or move out? Can you kick them out? A friend of mine is thinking about subletting but is weighing the possibilities. Who has been in a similar situation?

I'm a recent graduate looking to buy a property in Turkey.
I don't have the option of remortgaging as I don't own a house.
I asked my bank about getting a personal loan/mortgage of between £25k and £35k but they won't lend money if it will be used to purchase property abroad.

Can anyone give me some advice?

I am moving out in a year(so in January 2008) from my parent's house to San Clemente. I was looking for a place/website where I could find a expense chart? Or some website that helps young adults get on their feet before moving out?

Me and my boyfriend moved into our apartment in the beginning of Aug, and signed a 1 year lease. For certain reasons we are needing to break our lease and want to be out of here by the end of Feb. I've read my lease many many times and there is nothing on there about breaking our lease..So what our the normal penlties for doing such? Will i just have to pay Feb and march rent? Or what?

I can't afford California, Hawaii or Oregon; Texas is too hot; Florida has hurricanes.....I would look outside the U.S. if the government was stable enough to support a long-term investment. Oh, I also don't want heavy snow or 4" mosquitoes. I know I'm picky! Any ideas? Please be specific to town or county, if possible. Is it an impossible dream to retire somewhere where I can wake up to the sound of the seashore?

Been shopping around in the market for a while and finally tripped on this whole UMB idea, and I like it. But now I have to wonder how much is a fair fee for the UMB broker that I pick. I have a generally tougher case than normal, I would be considered a sub-prime case. The purchase price of the property will be about $330K. I've read around that a normal fee would be around 2 points for broker... so does $6400 really sound fair for a broker to make on a deal? I mean it sounds high to me...

I am renting a unit and the other day the owners turned up unannounced and wanted to look through the unit to see if anything needs doing

I thought they had to give at least 1 to 2 weeks notice, I know the real estate does

Do the owners have to give me notice of when they are coming or can they just turn up at any time?

I live in California and I know under California Law, a landlord has 21 days after move out to either send you back your full deposit or whatever was left of your deposit with an itemized list of what costs were taken out of it and for what. What I don't remember is, if after the 21 days, the landlord hasn't returned neither, does he waive all rights of taking anything out of the deposit and has to send you back the ENTIRE deposit even if you owed money in some way?

I am curently in a lease and the seller asked if we can close the end of march 3/06 verses 2/27/06. i would have to pay 1,400 to stay in the rental. is it mean for me to say no unless she will negotiate the price more? Also in NJ can she take additional bids once the attorney's decide on price and contracted dates.. It's early Jan. just not sure if I am being fair. i don't want to mean she lived there for 30 years. i know i can ask my attorney but i asking you guys ...smile
