I can't afford California, Hawaii or Oregon; Texas is too hot; Florida has hurricanes.....I would look outside the U.S. if the government was stable enough to support a long-term investment. Oh, I also don't want heavy snow or 4" mosquitoes. I know I'm picky! Any ideas? Please be specific to town or county, if possible. Is it an impossible dream to retire somewhere where I can wake up to the sound of the seashore?

There is no such thing as a coastline that does not experience humidity. Get real and face the reality that everywhere on the planet has adverse weather situations occasionally. Hurricanes are unpredictable, and drought can come and go only to be replaced with possible flooding. Mudslides and forest fires wreak havoc while tornadoes completely destroy. Natural disasters are just something that we have to take our chances with. I've lived in many places and have yet to find that utopia you dream about. Maybe in my next life.
