I would like to establish a "scholarship" to honor the memory of my father to send a Boy Scout to summer camp who is deserving but can't afford it. This does not cost much, but my idea is to start with a small amount of money and send 1 kid to camp this year with enough money left in the account (and what kind of account would that be?) so that next year, I'll have enough money to send two kids to camp. And so on and so on. I'm not even sure if this question should be in this category, so any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I received a letter from Lloyds TSB (my bank for the past year) offering me a "100% Guaranteed acceptance credit card" saying "You have already been approved a minimum credit limit of £5000". I currently can't get more than £2000 on a CC so I applied for this straight away, when I received the card it says I only have a £500 credit limit... which is pointless for me. I have phoned them up and they advise that I go into the store with the original offer letter (which I do have) and see what they can do. Do I have a leg to stand on by demanding that they give me the £5k limit since the letter clearly states that thats what I was applying for?

Hey everyone--

I am needing to apply for my first credit card soon to start building some credit. What are some things that I should know about and consider when I am doing this? I am planning on making payments as soon as possible. Where can I find a credit card with an interest rate that won't get me out of too much money? Is there a certain place I can go to apply for a credit card WITHOUT going through a mail service? These things would be great to know. Thanks!

I've tried asking this before, but I still get the "free credit report.com" answer.

What does someone do to get their credit report (score) if they had no computer access?
Is the world at the mercy of the 3 credit bureaus? What can I do?
I don't want to believe that this is the only way.
What do people in other countries do?

today i went onto a site called "club crazze". it clearly stated that you could download just one FREE ringtone for your mobile phone. they have taken £5 off my phone, for a ringtone that i have not even recieved, and they are continuing to take money off me! i have found a number to ring up and complain, and it is an ultimated service that is not even connected! i cannot seem to be able to cancel this, and i feel very angry and frustrated, as this company has done nothing short of THEFT!! i like many others have been fooled by this, but now realise that nothing id for free! i can not afford credit on my phone every 5 mins, and i am usually carefull with it, so it last due to my circumstances at the moment. i want my money back, but have come to a dead end. could you PLEASE tell me if you know a way that i can either reach this company, or tell me some other ways and means of sorting this out? this what this company is doing is disgusting, with no compassion for anyone at all.

I have some charge offs in my account now, and 90% of them are paid off now, I was told they are going to stay there for 7 years? Is that true? If so, I've heard of companies that can legally erase that paid charge off for a fee. Anyone hear anything about it?

I had a returned check turned over to collections, and now the agency is threatening to have me jailed if I don't pony up the money in full (I have tried to make payment arrangements). I intend to pay the amount back, but I don't like being coerced into skipping rent for a month to pay these people. I thought the company that originally received the check had to be the one to pursue charges. Am I wrong?

Im getting harrassed by a debt colector that already knows the debt is past its Statute of Limitations, and still continues to call me.

They call me day, night and the weekends.

What can I do to report them?
And does anyone have a link to where I can read what the laws are against debt collectors calling me.

Thank you.

I'm a college student, not bad with money at all (in fact, I tend to be too cheap) . I wanted to get a credit card so that I would be able to start building some credit, but then I realized that the debit card I was given with my Chase checking account also works as a credit card.

so, my questions: what's the deal with debit cards that also act as credit cards?

Do I need to get a credit card as well to start getting credit?

When I choose credit or debit at a store, what am I choosing between? As far as I can tell, it has the same effect.

My car loan company has called me multiple times this week saying that my bank declined the payment I made to them over the phone. My bank says it was paid and not declined and the bank manager faxed the loan company a copy of our statment and the she wrote on the cover page that the transaction was paid not declined. The company says that is not enough proof and continues to call me several times a day!! What are my rights on this?

Ok..ok I know you get one free one a year! But I had an error on mine, that had I checked my report 2 months later last year, it would have been fixed a whole 9 months sooner!!!

Anyway with all this emphasis on identity theft..and the fact that there can be soooo many mistakes on credit reports...why should we have to pay for them if we want to see more then once a year!!!

I think it is ridiculous, I mean it doesn't cost anything to see something online..seriously one more way for someone to make money!!!

Hi there, I just checked my online banking statement and it said there was a returned check. I had some outstanding deposits that apparently didn't deposit. Will the person that I wrote the check out to be notified if I have overdraft protection?

My account says that I am entitled to: "No fees for overdrafts or overdraft transfers, and no annual fee for overdraft line of credit."
