I opened a credit card when I first started out on my own several years ago. (Hey, we've all been there!) That card went into collections and was charged-off by a collections company. I finally got that debt completley paid off. That is the only negative mark on my report, so my score is still fairly good. Anyway, how long will that negative mark stay on there? How long before my credit score goes up?

I opened up a victorias secret credit card and the clerk wrote down "Ct." instead of "Avenue" so I didn't receive my statement for two months. In August, the World Financial Network called me and told me I had two months of late fees due. I told them that it was their mistake with my address and therefore I was going to pay the purchase price but that I would not pay the late fees. The collections rep said the balance would be zeroed out and I also asked to have the account closed. They called me back in September to say I still had late fees!!! I went through the whole explanation again and was told that they were sorry and that it would be taken care of. Today, December 8th, they called again to say I have over $80 in late fees to pay!! I explained the whole situation and now they are saying that there is no record of anyone stating my late fees would be removed and that I HAVE TO PAY them. What do I do??? This is killing my credit. Someone please help me???

Collection agency offered me good deal on one-time payoff of a credit card. How bad is it to pay over the phone, giving them routing number and bank account number? They say they will send me receipt stating account is paid in full within 2 weeks? I really want to clear this debt up and have the money, but don't want to get ripped off. This is the first time I have had to do this and any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

My debit card is Master Card (there is a logo) and the only reason i applied for it is paypal (I live in the Philippines)..

When I first got it, I was told to activate it, and changing the given pin to my chosen pin. I did that with the help of a friend, and we even got receipts. Also, we tried it for the second time and my new pin worked for it.

But take note, I still have not put in money in it.. the only balance left is the minimum, but I asked and told me just swipe it and change the pin and it will be activated.

But how come my paypal won't verify it?? Am I doing something wrong?

I use Security Bank Cashlink Plus debit card (Philippines) btw

Has anyone heard of, know of, or believe in settling with a creditor with the settlement stating that they wont respond to the credit bureaus inquiry? Do creditors engage in this type of settlement?

If you have proof in writing, what can you do if they fail to do so?

Is this possible? Is it against the law?

What do you guys think?

No, I'm not referring to those whose identity has been stolen. I mean those that have, from their own irresponsibility, have bought so much stuff that they are now in mountains to debt. Why should we give them so much sympathy and help? Their are credit card debt help organizations left and right nowadays. It is their fault, their irresponsibility, so as far as I am concerned, they deserve what they get.

Ok, I think this would qualify as a two part question.

So i just found out that my credit score dropped considerably. I have a parking ticket in Washington DC, and a collections notice from Verizon.

My plus score dropped about 50 points. I think each of these were reported to just one of them changes were reported to just one agency each.

The question is the parking ticket, and the collections item. I was wondering how to dispute these. Should i pay them then dispute them, or dispute and try to settle.

Since one is a parking ticket, do you think the government will settle. I dont think they would, but i thought i would ask.

I would appreciate any help. I was thinking of hiring a dispute agency to help out. I found some convincing agencies online. What do you guys think?

Is this possible? Will this work? Or will some of my debt have to be paid off? Anyone know? $15,000 is what he's putting down for me also.

The offer has been accepted by the seller, but it is a short sale, so it has to be accepted by the bank now and am waiting. After we get the acceptance, we are going to get the loan.

So, I have an acct with WAMU (Washington Mutual) and made 1 late payment a month or 2 ago. Since I have online billing, and no paper statements (and they don't offer APR online)... I called to find out my APR. It's at 31.49%!!!! I owe $634 on it. I want to know which is better to do. Make higher payments and then cancel the card once its paid off ... or make a $200 payment today and close it... and keep paying on it? Any advice would be fantastic. Thanks!!
