why would a teen want a credit card? I believe you have to be at least 18 to get one in your own name. Otherwise the only other option is to have your parents get you one. I would not ever do that for my kids personally. I think credit cards for teens is a bad idea. It pretty much sets you up to get off on the wrong foot and will more than likely be cause for a lot of stress and anxiety in your life! Save your money so you can get what you need!

A teen legally should not get a credit card until they are 18. You could buy a prepaid visa giftcard or get a credit card in your name under your parents account with their credit card company. You would need to be responsible, and you parents would need to agree to it. Why would you want a credit card if you are under 18? A credit card comes with a heavy responsibility. If you are not timely on your parents credit card, they will have to foot the bill, or have their credit ruined. Do you have a job? If not, you need to get one. You should not even consider a credit card bill if you are still in high school and don't have a job to pay the bill. Get a prepaid giftcard from visa or american express. That way, you never go over your limit because you can't spend money that is not there. This will teach you good money management for when you can legally have your own credit card. After you are 18!

Teens can't get approved for credit unless the're 18 or older. To get a card earlier, you would have to be listed as an approved user on someone else's account, like you mom or dad - who would be responsible for making the payments since the account is not in your name.
Companies don't issue credit to people that they perceive may not be established financially, which is why the age limit is 18. From their standpoint, a person that age is most likely not in high school, therefore they may have the means (a steady job, a trust fund, etc.) to pay for anything they purchase with credit.
Another reason to deny credit to teens is no credit history. If you have never had an account in your name, (like utilities, a gas or department store card, a mortgage) they have no way to verify your level of financial responsibility on which they base their decisions on.

DON'T. Credit is dangerous and can burden you down if you don't handle it correctly. If you don't plan on using the credit to build up a score for your future, or don't need it to rent a car, etc. then wait to get one.
If you really need one, start with your parents, often banks have a program where they can sponsor a credit card in your name to 'teach' youths about finances. However, don't abuse it or you will ruin not only your future, but your parents credit score. Another option, if you need it for online clothes or something, is to buy a pre-paid credit card, that way you have protection of a credit card, but aren't risking funds you don't have.
Learn from some of the top money makers in the world, billionaires even, who tell you, don't spend it if you don't have it. So if you get a credit card, learn about its fine print and work with your bank and your parents, they can help you get one and learn how to use it wisely to build a credit future. Also, they can make sure you get a good one (one without hidden fees or costs) that could hurt you later.
Here's wishing you a happy, prosperous and debt free future!

Because a teen is a minor and deemed unable to make informed decisions like financial, no credit company will give you a card. If you have a job, buy one of those pre-paid credit card and see if you can manage that and pay other bills.

If you are under 18, the only way you can get a credit card is if your parent/guardian cosigns for it.
Talk to them.

Personally, I hope NOwhere.
If adults can't handle credit, there is NO reason teenagers should have it.
