I want to start paying them off, but i have NO CLUE how to find out what agency it is. isn't there somethin where i can pay one person a month, and they distribute my money to other people?? and make the monthly payments reasonable and stuff?? a legit place?? thanks for any help

Debt consolidation works as you can spread out the payments over a longer time frame. But first, tell the collection agencies that they will get their money once you have made arrangements. This should give you breathing space.

Don't worry over what specific collection agency is calling....focus on WHO you owe medical payments to. I venture to guess you likely have some mailed bills from these people.

And I'd gather them all, along with your current household bills and one month's paycheck stub and contact a local consumer credit counseling agency.

Yes...they do work for some of the major credit cards, but they also can neogiate down the monthly amounts owed and they're pretty good at crunching numbers to where they can have you set on a tough, but workable monthly pay plan.

Strictly follow their pay plan and adhere to their lifestyle advice--and you'll see your debts go away.

Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS) is a nonprofit service with offices all over the country. There aer other services, but I just happen to know about CCCS. They have been around for a number of years and have a good reputation.

You pay them and they distribute the money for you - like you asked. They also help you budget, help you decide how much you can pay each month and will negotiate with your creditors to bring down the interest and fees you may be getting charged.

Good luck

I would go on to www.anualcreditreport.com (google it), its a free credit report from the 3 major credit companies. On any of those credit reports you can see who the collection company is and how to contact them and how much you owe them. Once you get there info you can call them to see if they can put you on a payment plan. Or try to apply for a personal loan to pay off the debt.
Good luck!
