i used a debit card to buy something online, and the next day, i got a cancellation e-mail, saying that they couldn't contact my "credit card" number. first of all, did they cancel it because i used a debit card, rather than a credit card? second of all, the money hasn't been restored on my debit card. is there anything i can do besides calling the bank to tell them about the problem?

My credit score is 372. I have a car repo and LOTS of cards and loans. the repo is already written off and my card accounts are closed. I am getting $22,500 in january and would like to fix my credit then. Is it best to pay off everything in full? someone told me not to pay off all my accounts. My payment history will still suck even though my debt to income ratio will be ok. what can i do to raise my score with this money? should i do debt consolidation and make payments instead of paying everything lump sum? i have from january until december to get it ok because i want to finance a new car. HELP!

I am in need of a credit card and was primarily looking at getting one from Citi or Chase; specifically these two:

http://www.citicards.com/cards/wv/cardDetail.do?screenID=925
and
http://www.chase.com/ccp/index.jsp?pg_name=ccpmapp/card_acquisitions/unsolicited/page/PFSCreditCardDetails&sourcecode=9D5Y

Based on the features, benefits, APR's, and I suppose customer service, which do you guys prefer? The rewards aspect is nice to have but it won't be used much in the near future (I'm poor), but I still want to keep it in mind.

Or maybe there is a better card out there you guys can refer me to.

Also, how fast is the purchase transaction posting with each?

Hi everyone,
I have a score of 729 and 7 revolving accounts (only 1 with a balance). I opened up a store credit card (Express) to take advantage of a 30% off offer 4 months ago and have already paid off the balance. I've read that closing accounts usually hurts your score because it shortens the average age of credit, however, would my score still fall if I closed this account? Since it's the newest account, it would actually lenghten the average age of all my accounts if I were to close it (but lower my total available credit by just a bit).

Here is the deal:

I have absolutely no credit at all. I've always paid everything cash. Now, I'm starting to realize I need to build up credit. How can I build up good credit quick?

I've heard that some secured card are bad because it shows on your report that you have a secured card, while others aren't bad.

Is being added as an authorized user to an account in good standing a good idea?

What tips do you have on building up good credit quick?

I live in mississippi and the collector said he could legally speak to me about it, my hubby has not authorized this. The thing is i am not on the account and he is telling me when the last time my hubby made a payment, and how much is past due. He told me our credit will suffer (i am not on the account) He constantly calls and tries to get me to pay the debt or tell him i will give him such and such amount by the end of the month. Will someone who knows mississippi law please help me?

My landlord put a judgemnent agaisnt me I had paid the judgement to them at the office she said she will let the courts know and take care of it. I just ran a credit check on me and I saw that this was showing not paid I called the clerk of courts about this and the rep said they did not get anything from them saying I paid this. I still have the receipt but is there anything I can do to the landlord for not telling the courts I paid this. When I called the landlord about this she said she will take care of this in a day or two.

There are not many details except that I don't think I owe it. I moved out Aug. 06 and received bill from collection agency in May. This is a balance remaining since they kept my deposit. I now live in South Carolina.

I had a credit card account closed in May of 2000 and all of a sudden i get a statement saying i owe them $600 after 7 years. Shouldn't this debt already have went on my credit? Is it legal for this creditor to sell my debt to another company after this long? Just wondering.
