Had virus, malware, or something, then pop-up hapened, and took over computer. I paid someone to clean it up, but later got a bill from "chargemelater", and now a collection agency (CRB).

I don't need bad credit, but hate to pay for a scam. Any suggestions?

I had a group membership with Bally Total Fitness that was originally set for a 3 year contract. Around 4 or 5 months into the contract, one of the members moved over 50 miles from the nearest Bally Total Fitness, and the other member left to Lackland AFB for Boot Camp. Per the contract, this was reason enough to cancel the contract. I was told that, since at the time i wanted to be a member, the monthly fee would be reduced from $63.63/mo to 30 something. When I went to pay around month 5, they told me that just because the other two members exited the contract doesn't mean I get to pay a reduced priced! I disputed this and contacted the attorney general and BBB. After several months they canceled the contract (finally, JUSTICE!). I disputed the unpaid period that they were trying to overcharge me until they canceled the contract for me but Experian wouldn't correct it. What can I do now? Can I dispute again or sue?

I have little debt on a credit card which is almost paid off (under $500). I am at the age of controlling my finances better, I am considering of switching my spending style to purchase items on my credit card then pay off my balance monthly.

The goal is to use the promotional earned credit to help purchase a car.

Is this realistic? I think I may credit at best $200 to $500 towards the car because $2500 of usage equals $25 towards the purchase of the car. I don't think I will end up running a balance on it at this point of my life.

It's the VW card for Volkswagen if that matters.

hello everyone!
I just recived a notice in the mail from my cc company telling me there decreasing my credit limit from 7500 to 3300, reason recent deliquency. I called the company because i have never been late with anything, the gentleman at the card company was nice enough to re instate my limit and told me the deliquency was in result with a collections on my credit that just was put on 1/2007. I pulled my credit and there it was a 288 dollar collection from CBC for comcast cable. Over a year and a half ago i pd that bill to a collector credit protection assn. I have the canceled check. I am getting sick and tired to dealing with this. I pd the thing in full, this is affecting my score for the last year, now a new collector has it and put it on that is became late 1/2007. this bill was from 2003. I am not someone that gets out of paying bills, this just got overlooked as i moved. Is there anylegal repercusiton as this is apparently not getting taken care off.

I just received a bill from a collection agency. I had no idea what they were talking about so I called---as I have excellent credit and do not want that ruined. The rude lady told me it was for a cell phone bill from 1998----I vaguely remember a dispute with a cell phone I had --but after months it was resolved--I have thrown all of my paperwork. I only keep records 7 years even for the IRS. I certainly didn't keep these records as I was very unhappy with the company and their record keeping. I have not heard from this company or received any bill or anything since I thought it was resolved. Can they send me to collections over 8 years later with no communication in between? The rude lady kept telling me that it would ruin my credit if I don't pay--about $500--but I know I don't owe it. However, after remembering the trouble I had with that company years ago---I know their records will show otherwise.
Please help, Sam

I had a Barclaycard 2 years ago, I ended up having problems with them when they changed my address without my permission - by the time I realised what was going on I was late in payments & with a DCA (bad me), did not help that I was the sole earner in a family of 3.

I had all my bills and a new card sent to the wrong address, an address I did not give them, but they refused to let me change my address because I could not pass security – their questions were based on my address & previous bills!! – So I just paid the whole lot off.

Now I have bad credit as a result, doing my best to get better credit (all my bills paid via DD on time – card, two mobiles, nothing else because this has left me in a place where I have little spare cash & I have had to move back with my abusive mother with little chance of escape with this over my head) but this is the major problem on my credit report.

Is there anything I can do to get rid of that bad spot?
How long does it stay with me for?

About this time last year I finally got a credit card. It's the only credit I've ever had. I've never gotten a lone, bought anything on credit, no student lones or anything. When I finally got a credit score it was a 5.97 or something like that. I've always paid my credit card on time. It's green straight across. But I have something on my credit report that I have no idea where it came from. I had my bank look into it and they couldn't even find the company that was on my report. I don't know what to do, or how to dispute it. It's ruinning me, and I just got credit.
