About this time last year I finally got a credit card. It's the only credit I've ever had. I've never gotten a lone, bought anything on credit, no student lones or anything. When I finally got a credit score it was a 5.97 or something like that. I've always paid my credit card on time. It's green straight across. But I have something on my credit report that I have no idea where it came from. I had my bank look into it and they couldn't even find the company that was on my report. I don't know what to do, or how to dispute it. It's ruinning me, and I just got credit.

Open a disbute by requesting a credit report first. You'll see all the items, I mean your cards or debts on the report. If there is something that you don't know, I mean a loan or a credit card, first call the bank who issued the credit card, you'll see their number on the report. You will see a partial number of the account. But when you call, identify yourself, give your social security number, they will find the account.Tell to the representative that you ignore the account, he/she will tell you when the account has been opened, the transactions made etc. Tell him/her that's a fraud or identity theft. They will open an investigation by sending you a form to fill.

Then, on the back on the credit report, there is a section to dispute inaccurate items, write the account number, the name of the creditor and write, I have no knowledge of that account.

The credit bureaus will contact the creditor to open an investigation. Call all the 3 credit bureaus immediately to put a fraud alert on your credit report. Each time someone will try to open an account with your ID, they will contact you to know if you are the person who applied for the credit card.

Take care!
