About 10 months ago, my wife went to an emergency room because she was having terrible pains. We did not have the funds to pay the bill. For last few months a collection agency has been trying to collect the funds; however, we still have enough money to pay. Last week, we received in the mail a settlement offer to only pay 50% of the bill. This is something that we can arrange with our parents help. Should we take the offer of not? I am afraid to they will come later asking for the other 50%. We are college students, and we are barely making to pay our education. We the intention of paying, but health care is so expensive, and we do not have insurance. Please let have you advise. Thank you!

I contacted a debt solution program but they say my credit will be hurt until I get these paid off. My credit is real good I just have alot of credit card debt that I would like into one lump sum with a fixed monthly payment. I cannot take a home equity loan due to a second mortgage for a business loan. My local bank said I don't have enough assets for a personal loan to cover the whole amount.

i am wondering what these trdade marks are. do those logos simply symbolize the name of the companies which have invested a large amount of money to banks or credit card company, or have been supporting the money transactions between credit/debit card and ATM machines?

I have around 5,000 on two cards each one at 3.9 and one at 4.9%. I have one more card with 5000 at 10%. I would like to get that at a low fixed rate. What is the best way to ask for that on the other two cards without paying transfer fees.

Over the past 3 years my sister has asked me to cosign on 3 different loans for her. I cosigned for the first two but am trying to decide on whether I should for the third. I am in debt myself and financially speaking the only good thing I have is my credit. I am at an age where I will start thinking about home ownership and it is important that my credit isn't affected. Is simply BEING a cosigner something that can affect my credit adversely? I really wish she had someone to go to other than me.

I'm afraid there's no way to say this without cold, but believe me, I love and respect my mother. I've taken care of her for two years.

But, anyway, she will only be around for another year or so. She'll be leaving behind a good deal of credit card debt...about $60k as near as I can tell. She also has about $75k in the bank. What do I do about this?

I see no reason why the credit card companies should've extended a sick old woman that kind of credit to begin with. It's predatory in my mind. I'm an authorized user of her bank account but I'm not on the account itself, I don't think. Not sure how that works. She wants me to take the money out so they won't get it when she's gone. What's the legality of doing this? I don't want to do it right before she goes, obviously. I'll have other things on my mind. I don't know what to do.

If my ex and I hate each other, and can't work together on anything (he claims one, I claim one, etc)...I get to claim all three kids, and I am eligible for Earned Income Credit. Can he also claim the three kids for Earned Income Credit purposes only? Or will this invite an audit on him;)

Issued through a USA bank, possibly lost in Denmark, where I will be for some time. How long does it take to get one replaced? I'm considering not replacing it, and going with a different bank, if it will take too long. Also, what's the cost to replace a lost/stolen Mastercard?

I am fully aware of the Mastercard lost/stolen emergency numbers and procedures -- I am weighing all of my options at this point.
