Decide what you want and go after it. Contact your mortgage company if you have a good reason for being in arrears they may deal, if you have paid for several years and hit a bad spot try to negotiate a 2nd mortgage.

Is there any chance that you can get caught up.
If so you can talk to the company about adding the late payments to the end of the loan or about paying an extra $150 to your loan to get it caught up by the end of the year.
It sounds like your mortagage payment is low (if you are "months" behind and only owe $1600) you might consider calling the company directly and see if they can work out a plan with you....I seriously doubt that they want to take your house since it will cost them about $4k to take it (legal fees, hud forms, listing agents etc)
If you loose the house it is not very likely that you can rent anyplace for $450.00 a month so maybe you can pawn a few things and work an extra job (paper route), see if your mom or dad can loan you the money or whatever else to get your mortgage caught up. GOOD LUCK !

Get an attorney from legal aid. At this point maybe all you can do is give the keys back. But it depends on your contract. For encoragement, listen to ttb.org.
