There suddenly appeared an open Master Card on my credit. There was $1500.00 already accrued with a $2000.00 limit. What is going on. When I found out two months later I already had fees which were $1644.00 for late payments. I immediately contacted them. Two more months later, meanwhile they call to harass me everyday to know when "I can make a payment". I am six months into this battle with these cheaters. I had immediatley went to the FTC and FCRA websites to find the actions which I needed to make. I have sent HSBC certified letters, three thus far, and have yet to receive response as to who, how, when, why documentation of the transaction. Meanwhile, HSBC calls every day 1-4 times, the interest rate of 29.99% is the card. I know this because four months into the battle I magically received a statement, I even had the account number then. I have never seen any plastic or paper. The credit bureaus have removed it after my inquisition to their discoveries-no documents

I just received my Blue card and my credit limit is 24000 dollars. The highest I ever received was one for 7000 for my Visa Platinum. My credit score is 770 and I have no job. Do they just give the Blue card to anyone and give them 24000 dollars to spend or is my credit that good?

Repeat of question with details:

I always forget to add that it is not credit card debt.

Medical takes up about $3,000 and some old gas bills, lost library books etc, take up about $1,500.

I know with these debts if they were going to sue me they would have already.

About $1,000 is kept "current" last reporting in January of this year. But they are both medical bills. All the rest will be over two years old as of next month.

What I really only want to know.....if a lender looks at my credit and everything on there is over 2 years old how much will said lender care about the debt? And how much will they care if the current debt is only medical?

Issue:

If you have something on your credit report that is 2 years or older, do you pay it back?

I have heard two sides of the story.

Story 1: If it is two years or older and you pay it, it hurts your credit more than it helps.

Story 2: If you pay it off it'll help your credit instead of hurting it.

Which one is true? Cause if story 1 is true then 90% of the debt I owe can just be "written off" and I can start in a few months by getting a secured credit card and I can only go up from there.

I don't want to hear from anyone about how I "should" pay all my debt off.

What I really only want to know.....if a lender looks at my credit and everything on there is over 2 years old how much will said lender care about that debt?

My girlfriend and I, to take advantage of 36 months no interest, signed up for a CompUSA credit card to buy our new $1700 Plasma TV. We have only had it for 3 months and have already paid off half of the TV. We got the credit card in my name since I have better credit. However, since she is making payments on the card too, she has expressed interest in making the account a joint account. Now, we went through a similar situation with Target and after having the card for some months they were able to make it a joint account. However, after calling HSBC (AKA CompUSA) and talking to someone who could barely speak english, we were informed that they couldn't turn the account into a joint account despite there being a joint account offering at the time of application. If I talk to the right person can ANY company technically turn an individual to a joint or do some companies just not want to change them?

I'm in the State of California and when I signed a charge slip at a local store, my full account number was printed on their portion of the receipt. I wanted to scratch out all but the last four digits of the account number and they refused to give me my purchases if I did so. The charge had already been approved electronically and was pending in my account. Is this legal? What do they do with the signed charge slips?
