I sent letters to 2 of my credit cards explaining my situation and sent each a small (very small) payment. I was over on one because they extended my billing month and it was 34 days instead of the usual 30 so the interest made me go over by 5 dollars. I paid the overlimit amount but got a note today to pay 75 that I am over as soon as possible. The 75 is the late and over the limit fees that they have added when my statement closed on the 12 th of this month. I am going to file bankrupcty in early april. I'm waiting for my little refund to come so I can do the credit counseling thing (useless but required). I will then have to look around for free bankruptcy help. I have no money and my employer has punished me work working 3 extra hours last (although the needed me and someone didn'lt come to work) by cutting another day off me this next week. In additon, someone has been calling me 6 or 7 times these last 2 days and not leaving a message. I think it must be one of them too

I have seen offers for platinum visa and mastercards that say you can get a credit line up to 10000. They ask for 30 for one card or 50 to get both cards. Anyone done this and how does it work. Do they really give you 10000 between the 2 cards.

I have a charge-off with a last date reported in 2004, however when I check my TransUnion (only this one, neither Equifax or Experian report this) the charge-off has been purchased by a collection agency and this agency has created a new debt on my report and continues to re-date the last date reported for it. I have had no contact with this agency yet they just reported "action" for this year! Is this legal and and how do I fight it if its not?

signed a credit agreement through first national for double glazing on 17-2-04. Back door lock now broken and loads of problems with the windows etc. Upon looking around the internet have since found out that coldseal went into liquidation on the 3 feb 04. My wife asked the service representative who came to our home at the time that she had heard rumours that they were going bust which she categorically denied. Could this be construed as fraud by their representative and invalid this agreement and also how can First National authorise a credit agreement with a company that had went into liquidation two weeks previously. Do i have any recourse anywhere.

I have three credit cards (only about $1,500 total) and I am paying them off when I get my income tax returns. Is it better for my credit to keep the accounts open with a zero balance or to close the accounts? I plan on applying for one visa or amex (the ones ai have are crappy Capital One and 2 store cards) I am afraid that keeping the accounts open will show a potential of getting into debt. I am also looking to buy a house this year so that is the main concearn.

My credit score is 698. I have always paid my bills on time or early so I have no late payments on my history. I put some money down. I feel like that is a really high interest rate and I am debating whether I should refinance to try to get a lower interest rate.

A friend and I were both trying to find assistance (of any kind) in regard to reining in our finances via the assistance of a credit counseling center, but we're worried about fraud. Also, I've heard that just by consulting one of those agencies, your credit rating is immediately impacted in a negative way - is that true? It doesn't make sense...if you're trying to get help BEFORE you "screw" the credit card company by defaulting, you shouldn't be "punished".

I understand it will remain on my credit for 7 years, but if I pay it off the day the judgement was issued, will it still hurt my credit? Will creditors/employers look at that and deem it to be negative? And if the defendants sue for $100, could the judge give them a judgement higher than they asked?

Regarding closing an account: Does closing a credit card account stop finance charges from accumilating on balances? Do balances have to be paid off all at once upon closing an account or can you make payments on them?

We have three cards all have high intrest rates now that the introductory rates have worn off. Two are close (within $200) of the credit limit of $3,000. I was just considering closing the 2 accounts if it will stop (or at least slow down) the intrest and finance charges from racking up. I cannot pay off the total balance and would still need to make payments on the balance. Our credit score is in the upper 600's and I'm not too worried about it, just want the debt payed off. We have reached the turning point to be able to actually getting the debt down instead of just making minimum payments. We dont use the cards really anyway, they were just to utlize the low rates and lower the balance on the 3th card. Anyway- Any thoughts? Help? Ideas? Thanks!
