Apparently when I signed a settlement agreement with a collection agency, I waived my rights for anything such as a lawyer, appeal..etc. Well yesterday, i checked out the court system and they're forwarding with the judgement. I have every intention of paying this since it's only one account and it's only a few grand (like 3 grand). I only had 2 grand to give up without it affecting my other bills. But apparently they will only accept full payment. So my question is, what do they start garnishing? Do they start with work wages? If so, that's fine, i'm pretty sure I'll pay it off in 2 months anyways but i just want to see what they attempt first. I just don't want to be surprised when I see my bank account balance at zero. Is it true they only hit your accounts when you don't report where you work and stuff? Answers greatly appreciated.

I was buying a car and I notice, on my credit report, that Car Max ran my credit 9 times in one day. This has lower my credit score tremendously.

Recently I applied for credit card with HSBC. Initially I received the Security PIN then it was followed bya letter that said the credit card has been cancelled and advised me to destroy PIN and/or credit card in my posession. When I wrote to the bank for explaination an erroneous application processing entry as the reason. I wrote back to tell me the exact reason for cancellation/denial and also offered to submit any other document that they may require in order to approve the credit card. This was 10 days back and I am yet to receive a reply. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Does anyone know where I can find pre-bankruptcy credit counseling services at little or no charge? Also, I have had a lien placed against my bank account. The creditor is not willing to negotiate. Is there any way I can get this lifted?

I am taking out a personal loan over 3 years, and have been offered payment protection which will cost almst £50 per month. I am in a very secure job (virtually no risk of redundancy) with good conditions for sick pay. Would it still be foolish to refuse the payment protection, even though I could be putting the extra money into my savings instead?

This collection agency has been calling me every day.....getting on my nerves.

I owe my university $5700. now it went to collection agency and became $7400. how can they charge me $1700 more. is there any way i can ask them the actual bills.

They tried to contact me for the last three months. but as i moved out from the previous address i didnt get any mails. so they called me 10 days back and so far i was able to clear off $3000.i read it in some websites that i can reqest a debt validation report from collector in 30 days from communication.

So what is the day of communication in my case.....is it the day that they first send the postal mail which went to my previous address or is it the phone call that i recieved.

Their charges are too high..please help me out of this situation to get a fair debt to be paid. i can pay in full but dont want to loose my money to these suckers who chage me hefty collection fees

My boyfriend reciently recevied a notice in the mail saying that a ballys bill of 5,000 dollors was recently sent to a collection agency. it started about 5 years ago when he went there to pay his bill, he lost the recipt, they then accused him of not paying and he had no proof that he did. So he never went back. He refuses to pay the debt b/c he said it wasnt his fault and his dad says that if he tries to contact them about it they can take him to court and make him pay. is this true can we find out what happend without being forced to pay

He wants to increase his score, but he only has a sprint account and a citibank Visa card. What should he do? Open more accounts? Pay off these, keep them opened and then open more accounts? I will not ever let him get behind, should he be unable to pay his bills.

When you chose to stop receiving "prescreened" offers by calling 1-888-5-OPT-OUT does it also make it impossible for your credit to be checked when you are applying for things you want like a mortgage or car. I have been told by several co-workers that if I do this everything shuts down and even people who I want to see my score will not be able to see my score. Any information is appreciated.

I was told my bankruptcy was filed this morning and I would like to start rebuilding my credit as soon as possible. All the tips I have read refer to what to do after you file bankruptcy but they don't say if I need to wait the 2-3 months it will take to be discharged before I can apply for credit.

Last may we decided to consolidate our debt and made payments to a debt relief company who would begin negotiations as soon as we paid the finance charges. Never got that far b/c our state passed law that said they could not do business with us, we got refunded. In the meantime we have been turned over to collection agencies, should I negotiate with them on my own?
