The garnishment will stop on that job, but as soon as they get another job it will start up with the new job. It may take a couple of weeks to months to catch up but it eventually will. The IRS gets reports of any income on the salary and if they have a garnishment order the courts can release this information.

If they don't get another job or the people who are ganishing the wages can't find where you are working(like if they were getting straight cash), they will then attach any checking/savings accounts they have until it is paid off.

Then you have to find out where they are working and file the garnishment again.

You could also find out where they bank and garnish their bank account.
