I have seen offers for platinum visa and mastercards that say you can get a credit line up to 10000. They ask for 30 for one card or 50 to get both cards. Anyone done this and how does it work. Do they really give you 10000 between the 2 cards.

The Credit line will be based upon your credit score and income. Some people may qualify for the 10k right off the bat, and other may start at 2k and have to work your way up.

Read the fine print - you can get "UP TO" $10,000 - that means $500, $1000, etc.

You are NEVER guaranteed a $10,000 credit line - you will get what they give you.

Paying an annual fee does absolutely NOTHING to increase your credit line - you could get the same credit line with a no fee card - so don't pay the fee unless the card has some other benefit that you can't get with another card.

Don't go by what credit limit the cards offer. What matters finally is your capacity to repay bills. If you overuse a credit card and spend more than you can repay, you will end up in a hole. Use credit cards as convenience. Never think of them as extension of your income, because they aren't.

Stick to one credit card, or at the most two issued by one of the reputed companies - one for personal expenses and the other for business expenses.
