I just became an adult like two years ago and I'm still in college and not in "the real world" yet, so I never really cared. How does this whole credit score thing work and what's the big deal about it? What is it and why the hell does it matter? And what will I need a good credit score for anyways, I mean, I don't plan on taking out any loans in my lifetime, I plan on moving into a city and living without a car, I have a prepaid cellphone bill, I don't plan on ever getting a credit card (I have a debit card from my bank), I don't plan on getting married. So what am I ever going to need a good credit score for? The only thing I can think of is for when I get my own apartment, but still, I'll just put a security deposit down, I don't mind.

How long will it take my bank to put all of it towards my available balance? It is withholding all but $100 of the money. How long does it usually take? It is US Bank in case that helps.

My husband and I were in a lot of credit card debt, about 11,000 dollars. We recently acquired some money and are able to pay off all of our credit card debt. We have three cards; my husband wants to cancel all but one of them once we pay them all off, but I didn't think that was a good idea...doesn't it look bad on your credit score if you cancel a card once it's paid off? Please explain how this works! Thanks!

a business card that I undersigned was used by the mgmt and they ran up $20k in debt illegally. I've repeatedly written to the bank saying it wasn't me, but they're a nightmare, even though the company lawyer wrote them saying it wasn't me. First their fraud people said it was fixed, then client svcs says i have to pay it and now they're telling me my credit will get whacked. is it worth paying it (in installments) so it doesn't dog me for life? or should i take the hit and rely on one of those services to fix it? can I sue the mgmt?? Any suggestions? help!!!

I just accepted an offer from a consulting company. Since I will be travelling a lot, I will be issued a corporate american express card from the company. The problem is that I dont have a good credit history. Do they check the credit even if it is a corporate card?? What happens if the card is declined? Its a very good offer and I dont want to lose it

we are a family of 5 on a full time teacher's salary. We had some financial issues with our insurance (not our fault) and our Christmas credit cards (our fault). We can't seem to catch up. We work very hard, she has a part-time job, and I have 2. Should I tap my 403B? Is that even possible? Is it stupid? If we can get back on budget, we can be ok, but with everything behind, we need a grand or 2 to get back on track.

Any ideas/ advice. Thanks in advance.

Do credit Bureaus really give any concern if your credit is messed up or not. Do they even now what they are doing?

I have many high dollar debts that I am being harrased by collection agencies for. But on my credit reports from all three bureaus show that several of the debts were written off by the creditor. But now I am getting harrassing phone calls every day from collection agencies for those same debts. I just need to know what direction to take next. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey I am in so much debt and have so many outgoings but still want to have a good time and go out and enjoy myself because I'm only 20 and feel I should be - you're only young once!
But my debt is mounting up fast and I have so many outgoings to see to this year on a crappy Customer Service wage that isn't going to improve much for the next few years! What should I do - I don't want to end up like my parents with who have just started an IVA with £130,000 debt under their name but I can see me going that way.

why not discount the item right there in the store for corn's sakes? I personally avoid stores and sales involved in these "rebates" as I think it's some trick to get you to pay the higher price then offer some feeble excuse why you're not eligible for the rebate.
