Dispute it to all three credit companies, at best they will not reply to the query and it will be removed, at worst they will contact you stating that you owe that amount.

WAIT. Before you pay off any of it make sure it's actually your debt. If in question ask them for a signature or some other proof that it was you. There is so much fraud and ID theft that it is ridiculous. So many illegal aliens need to steal people’s socials so they can get work and sometimes they use them for other reasons too. You can go to a site that the government made the credit bureaus produce and it will allow you to get 3 free credit reports for free. One from each credit bureau. Because of your current problem you will probably want to get all 3 because sometimes a debt will only show up on one companies report! Once you are confident your credit report is correct then next year I suggest you space out your 3 free reports and get one every 4 months to watch for new activity.

The site below also has resources if you need help. (This site isn't selling you anything)

There should be some information on there that will give you an idea of where they're coming from.

Sometimes collections are hard to make out because they may show the name of the collection agency. But you should be able to decipher everything if you know how to read your credit report properly.

I wrote an in-depth article on how to read your credit report. It covers everything you would need to know to effectively understand it.

Send debt validation letters or dispute directly with the credit bureaus to each company. There must be info. somehwere on your credit report about them. If they don't respond within 30 days it comes off your credit report...

To find out more info on the item, you could always call the reporting agency and ask them.

To pay off debt with no contact info, call the original creditor. They can refer you to where it is currently.
