I just accepted an offer from a consulting company. Since I will be travelling a lot, I will be issued a corporate american express card from the company. The problem is that I dont have a good credit history. Do they check the credit even if it is a corporate card?? What happens if the card is declined? Its a very good offer and I dont want to lose it

Ha! AMEX will still run your credit and you can be denied a card if you don't meet their standards. It just happened to my husband and he has to use his own card and submit the receipt for reimbursement.

If the company undersigns the card, there is not a problem as AMEX won't review your credit report.

If the company doesn't undersign the card, then AMEX will pull your credit report as a basis for issuing you a card. As you have mentioned, your credit history is uglier than Wanda on "In Living Color" and getting approved on your own merit would be problematic.

On another note, should you get an AMEX Corporate Card, I would STRONGLY discourage you from using the Corporate Card as your credit card for PERSONAL purchases.

There is no need for your company to have visibility on your personal purchases and it screws up the accounting for travel and entertainment expense reimbursements.

This is a BUSINESS card not a PERSONAL PIGGY BANK.

I am saying this because we all start out with the best of intentions, but . . .

I certainly have a buddy that had a matching concern. He had a discharged bk (13 years), homestead, past and cutting-edge AMEX card. yet sadly, he replaced into denied the corporate Card. He contacted AMEX right now and defined that the bk replaced into discharged and that his previous card replaced into coated in that financial ruin. They investigated and checked his credit simply by fact the BK and then they issued the corporate card. They have been very professional to handle. stable success!

My experience with a corporate amex was using it for corporate use only. Since amex is technically issuing the card to the company and not you, it shouldn't be an issue. Don't abuse their trust.
