i have had an account past due with citizens bank for 3 years i was put away for awhile and was unable to pay it. i owed 538 dollars. well 5 months ago i have been receiving calls from NCO about collecting the debt. i spoke to someone and they offered me a settlement i would pay 1 payment of 50 the fisrts month then 155 the next month then one last payment of 155 and i would be done. well i received a call the last month saying i owe them 418 dollars they said they bought the account and thats what i owe. this is totally unfair. for the past 2 months i have been getting calls from them everyday asking me to pay it and today they were threatning they will bring me to court to get the money. i am only 21 i go to school but for some reason this seems very wrong. i went from paying one last payment of 155 to owing 418?!!!!!! and tonight after 3 years it was put on my credit report. i need advice if anyone can help me. email jaywesson@gmail.com

I've heard nothing but NIGHTMARES involving First Premier Bank. They give you a 250-350 limit and charge you $170 in sign-up fees. They also charge you $7 bucks per payment for online or phone payments. Additionally, they apparently lock your account for up to 16 days as a ''security procedure'' to verify payments if you pay way more than the minimum payment. I just want a regular ol' credit card secured or not. I've been extremely great with my finances over the past year and have all three collections on my report paid off. Anybody tried or heard of a company they would suggest?

for an old credit card debt..i went to small claims where they obtained a judgment against me...which i have been paying until december as i went into the hospital...so i could not send them the full amount but i paid them as much as i could..they sent me a letter saying they could garnish my wage $200 a month if i didn't send them a certain amount by Jan 20. My husband does not work, i support him 100%. (He can't work yet because of Immigration laws at this time, waiting on INS paperwork)

I'm just wondering is there anything we can do to stop this?

as on top of this bill we also now have $10,000 plus of hospital/doctor bills....

in the letter, they said something about a garnishment hearing..does that mean i have a right to show up and defend myself and explain to the judge the situation?

Please read first:
I'm well aware that it is ill advised to carry any balance over that would accumulate interest on a credit card.

I'm also aware my balance should always be paid in full. I'm also aware most people believe this, and I do appreciate anyone who cares to be sure.

But that is not my question, and I would also appreciate not getting this confused.

What I'd like to know, is if anyone here disagrees with the above and why? Are there any cases that my balance should NOT be paid off? Is there some reason I should let it go past 30 days? Does it matter how much balance I accumulate?

Would it actually be bad for my credit if I paid my balance before a purchase (and give my credit card company an interest free loan). I am aware that it is 'stupid,' but this way I am 100% sure I would never carry a balance. But would doing so cause me not to develop a good credit history?

Thanks for your time and actually reading this before answering.

I am waiting for my attorney to get back to me next week. In the meantime if anyone knows the answer to this, I would really appreciate it. I have already filed and had my court date for my Chapter 7 bankruptcy. My Chapter 7 bankruptcy will be finalized on January 30 2007, and I will be released of all unsecured debt.
On my "Debtors Statement of Intention" document, we put "Surrender" for my car, and that's exactly what I'm doing with it.
For my house we put "Exempt" which made the equity exempt and allowed me to keep the home without a forced sale. The problem and question is with my home. The mortgage company's lawyer is pressuring me to "Reaffirm" by January 30. She says of I don't sign the reaffirm agreement then it will default to "Redeem" "Redeem" seems to mean pay a lump sum or surrender the property? The question is; Is a Chapter 7 debtor's home mortgage limited to reaffirmation, redemption or surrender, after Exempt? My attorney says there is a 5th choice, do nothing.

I want to make sure I have a address listed on a credit report. I currently live in Oregon but I have just purchased a home in Idaho. I applied for a credit card and was approved for it. I asked it be sent to my Idaho address as I want to keep it their. They said their was a discrepecny with the credit buerau and I needed to fax over proof with two utilitiy bills, my SSN, and drivers license. I was very upset that I had to do this. Can anyone tell me how to stop this in the future?
