I am looking to buy a new car with my wife co-signing. My credit is horrible and won't be able to get a loan without her help. The questions are: Will a year or two of paying the car loan payments with no missed or late payments plus keeping all other credit payments on time build my credit enough(generally speaking) to eventually re-finance the car in my own name a year or two down the road. Also, does this sound like something that can happen or does happen a lot, re-financing without the co-signer a year or two down the road? What does re-financing entail, fines, etc...?

Ok, I sold an item on Ebay and it went to someone living in Africa. They have a negative 1 feedback score and someone from the "UK" footed the bill on their credit card in my paypal account. Supposedly their uncle. What is the chance that this is like identity theft and should I not send the item to them or believe what they say? What happens as well if I do send the item and it was credit card theft? Would I then lose the camera and the money? Trying to be a good Ebayer...the payment is in so I need to make a decision if its right to ship the item or not. Thanks.

I got a Walmart giftcard for Christmas from the company I work for as a volunteer. The thing is that this is kind of limited, so I was thinking if I could buy a Visa card at Walmart and pay it with the Walmart card. So then, I will have transferred all my money to the Visa card. Is this possible? Will they give me any kind of trouble?

My husband got a credit card during our marriage and we always paid on time but due to job layoff and illness we fell behind. We are both working now but make only enogh money to pay for the bare necessities. So now he's had an arbitration award made against him. In the state of Texas (community property and family code laws) will they come after me since I did not sign the application? Should I get a separate bank account in my name only to protect my wages? Can he direct deposit his paycheck into his sister's account or will the creditors find out from his employer his sister's bank account info and freeze his money and his sister's too?Direct deposit is mandatory at his company. Please help we are not deadbeats. We're just having a hard time right now.

I have a judgement for 5,000 they sent me a letter saying they were nice people and would like to negotiate a settlement and talk about options. But when I called they were rude and didn't have any options except Pay it off! Is there any organization that deals in this? (to help negotiate?) other than a lawyer.

I received something in the mail today and called which was supposedly a credit card bill I owe from over 10 years ago. I don't remember this at all, so how can I not have to pay this? Is there a limit on this for years you have to pay it back? It seems as now as I getting my credit in good standing, I keep receiving bills from a long time ago. Any advice would be appreciated. I am disputing the bill.

I have had a loan with Sallie May for years but recently when I filed to refinance I was denied and with further investigation learned that I had a claim from Sallie May on My Credit report with the same name as me but a differentt social security number. When I talked to someone at hq they said that it was an error on there part that no on checked to see if the SS# matched. I am not sure what do do and they do not seem to be able to take it off of my report.

I made pmts for my mtg using quick collect. Apparently the payments have not been posted to the acct for a couple of months- I thought that talking to the lender and giving them the MTCN would resolve the issue, as Western Union stated that the funds are still there and haven't been collected. NOT! They are being real jerks! I calle dthis morning and was told that the process of researching the pmt can take up to 54 days and I am in default as I am now 90 days without pmt. I asked what my options were at this point ~I was told that I can pay the sum (with late fees, etc) and wait for them to research it, or have the bank potentially foreclose! This is a new~7mo old~ mtg. I am kinda new to all this, but can they really do that? Is it best to try to cancel the quick collect payments and lose the fees already paid to them and resend the funds? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

This is the predicament I am in right now. Last week I sent a check to my university's bursar's office to pay my tuition. However, the check has been returned, for there was less money in my checking account than I needed. At the time I sent the check, I thought money was to be transferred from my savings account to the university's account. As an immigrant, I did not know what I was supposed to know. Anyway, I can't ask the bursar's office to redeposit the check right now because the office will be closed till Jan 2nd. I am out of country, so I can't send another check. The deadline is the 1st of January. I called the bank, and they said they cannot help me out until the 2nd of January. I wonder if there is a way I can appeal to the university for grace. If there is one, please let me know. Thank you.
