Bad temptation......they can be good if you only use a little credit and then pay it back off. But many people do not do that....they max out all their credit.

80% of people do not pay off their cards every month, so they run a balance and get charges interest and finance charges. That is why these credit card companies spend 10 BILLION DOLLARS a year in advertising.
Use a debit card only and save up before buying big items.
Dave Ramsey says it best "The Borrower is SLAVE to the Lender."
You can have great credit by just paying your home loan or rent on time. You do not need a credit card to build credit.

Credit cards are horrible because they push them onto young people (College kids) and they're not responsible enough to handle them correctly. I have one credit card that I use ONLY for emergencies. I haven't used it in a few years, but it's good that it's there should I need it. Otherwise, I just use my bank card. The money I'm spending just comes right out of my account and I never have to worry about spending more than i can afford.

Credit card companies use marketing in order to tempt customers with the aim of making tons of money in late fees, interest fees, annual fees... BUT I think you agree with me that all businesses must make money in a capitalist society.Sometimes it's a dangerous trap, especially for the young, many people should not be extended credit. But it's free world! According to statistic people spend more with credit cards than they would with cash. But be intelligent enough to spend only what you can cover.

They can be a strong ally or a strong foe. As long as your responsible with them they can definately help you out. I started with my first credit card just to get my credit score up. I bought gas with it and immediatly paid it off. My credit score is over 750 and it is well worth it. They can be VERY dangerous though. My friend (20 years old) is $40,000 in debt. He hates his life. Be careful.

.pay them off before they incur interest or you will be paying more in the long run in payments from the interest than what the item is worth.

They suck, but they're helpful. The trick is to know how and when to use them. And of course, repay your balance ASAP.
