This is the predicament I am in right now. Last week I sent a check to my university's bursar's office to pay my tuition. However, the check has been returned, for there was less money in my checking account than I needed. At the time I sent the check, I thought money was to be transferred from my savings account to the university's account. As an immigrant, I did not know what I was supposed to know. Anyway, I can't ask the bursar's office to redeposit the check right now because the office will be closed till Jan 2nd. I am out of country, so I can't send another check. The deadline is the 1st of January. I called the bank, and they said they cannot help me out until the 2nd of January. I wonder if there is a way I can appeal to the university for grace. If there is one, please let me know. Thank you.

Write a letter to the Uni explaining as you have in your question, ask that you be given a couple of days extra to pay. It may work, they are not totally heartless;

Or u could pay it later, all the university wants is money, so u aint the only one late.
Just call them on Jan.2nd and explain to the university.They will understand. Stop worrying, folks are late all the time on tuitions

Believe it or not, many businesses will understand what happened and work with you . Expect to pay the bounced check fee that the business was charged. Contact them as soon as possible to make payment arrangements.
