I am 33. I messed up my credit in my 20s. I am now trying to become a firefighter. I have to work on my credit. I am currently good with finances. Am paying high interest on a new car. I only owe about 2k in charge-offs and collections. I have the list printed as I have gotten a copy of my credit report. Is there a company- I mean a GOOD, reputable company- that will consolidate this for me so that I can have a good looking report within months? Maybe one that I can pay off in a matter of months with a second job. (my current job is a part time EMT while I am in school for fire technology- I do not earn a lot)

I thank all of you that have helped. I have followed up with FTC, creditors, credit bureaus.., and still am not satistified. It is very hard work. I am being supplied with creditors info.., and when I contact them they don't have any records and tell me that I should contact someone else. I understand the Cust Serv is not great all around.., but when it come to financing, their inaccuracies are ruining me. I cotacted FTC, have written to Attorney General (awaiting a response). I need specifics on the 7 yr removal.., when does the clock start ticking!! If I get a dispute coming as "verified" should I contact the creditor and ask fo "forgiveness", or come ask to have it removed. If the 3C are private.., what rights do they have to even be in my business.., I am close to tears. I am on disabiality at a very young age.., in my studupity.., when I got my check, I settled and received letters saying that items would be stated as satisfied.., this is not the truth.. someone HELP!! THANKS!

Bank of America has a new line of credit cards out, many of which support charitable causes. I think this is an excellent way to raise awareness, and am curious to know if there are other cards out there that support charitable causes.

Also, I'm 24 w/o much credit (not bad, just don't have any.) I'm looking for a good first credit card. Thanks in advance!

Recently, I got in to a dispute with an ex-landlord, who wanted to charge me a ludicrous fee after I moved out. I am refusing to pay and he is threatening to report me to creditors, who will hurt my credit.
I want to know how much it will hurt my credit if a negative goes on the report. I am a 20 year old college student who doesnt currently work but I have a job beginning in September 2007. I have student loans and 3 credit cards, all in good standing and I've never had a late payment. I checked my credit score about 2 years ago and it was about 715. I'm assuming it's still in that area. Can someone estimate how much I will be hurt by this negative on my credit?

Thanks so much.

Does anyone know of a place where I can get a credit card, guaranteed? I'm only 18 so I have very little credit, and they turn me down because of that. But you have to start somewhere, right?

My husband gave me an American Express Gold card as a gift. He was the primary card holder and guarantee of the account. I never signed a contract with them nor made a payment. One card was in his name and the other(different #) was in my name. He passed in 2003, and AMX canceled the account and fail to file the debt against his estate. Now they are harassing me and my credit. Am I liable?

I have two roommates. None of us have any financial obligation to each other, other than paying rent and utilities. When asked 'What is your Gross Annual Household Income?', do I respond with MY gross annual income, or with the COMBINED gross income of me and my two roommates (my household). Note: We rent, there is no mortgage.

It was for a credit line that the lawyer was supposed to pay after a seperation. Lawyer paid part of it but didn't pay all. Bank never sent anything saying that money was still owed (after 2 years). Credit has plummeted!!!

What is it truly worth?
5c for printing costs perhaps less?

The money printers are laughing, they print at practically no cost, they lend money that is virtual and they charge massive interest. We are slaves to paper and figures held in computers. What a sad world.
