That happen to me once when I was going through some hard times. I have an account with Bank of America which by the way is an awesome bank. I went to the bank's website and found out who their president, CEO, and other top officials were and emailed each one of them. (I was able to figure out their email address from their website) I explained my situation and what caused my situation to them and how I valued being a customer at their bank in addition to my plan to get back on my feet. Then I sincerely apologized for not being able to handle my account better. I then asked them if they could please waive the overdrawn fees because it has caused me a severe hardship because I was not able to buy food or gas for my car.
THEY DID IT!!
Someone from the local branch called me and told me they would do it and informed me that it could only be done once.
If that doesn't work hurry up and open another account somewhere else before your account at your current bank goes into collections so it won't show up anywhere that you owe a bank money because then you won't be able to open an account anywhere. If your bank won't work with you the only thing they can do is use any money that you deposit into your account to pay this debt and if you never deposit any money they turn it over to collections and it goes on your credit report.

You need to pay it back as soon as possible. They will continue to charge fees if you dont bring it to a positive balance witin a certain time frame. Eventually, they close your account and send it to collections. Then the fees are higher, it goes on yoru report as a collection, AND when you go to open a new bank account, they wont let you because there is some sort of bank reporting thing where they can check to see if you've done this before. I had one paid but i had to go find the proof so that I could get a new account.

The bank will
-Harass you by phone and mail for a couple of months
-turn the account over to a Collection Agency who will continue hounding you
-Then you will be sued in small claims court
-Then they will garnishee your wages and/or accounts and put an execution on any property you might have.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention.....your credit rating will take a big hit too.

....at least that has been my experience in 20 years of banking.

They will send your name to every bank in town and you won't be able to get an account or write a check anywhere. Take your 1st check and pay them, get a receipt, call the credit bureau and get this blemish off your record. Take care of your credit

They've already probably charged you bounce fees. If you can't pay it back, they'll probably close your account. You'll still owe them, and yes, they'll report it to credit bureau and probably send to collection.
