You can get a secured card from any bank by keeping a $400 account deposit on the card. And what ever money you put in this account will be your spending limit. I also had a problem establishing credit... too young... not enough time on the job... but I applied for a Mervyns and Target accounts and both approved me for $400 without doing a bank account. If all else fails try to get a credit line at a jewelry store, spend a little and make small payments each month so you start building credit. Try to avoid places like car dealers who promise to help you get credit. There are always cheaper ways to get credit.

I've said it before, I'll say it again I love my Imagine Card, had it since Jan. If you have a checking account you are approved with $300 limit. They give you increases every few months. Payment options are great you can allow them to take it automatically out of your account (this is actually a requirement) but you can also pay on-line, moneygram, or pay by mail and they won't touch your account as long as you pay early. My credit score has went up since I've had it. Also, at 18 you are at the right age to get started building your credit. Always read everything before you apply and if you are absolutely sure you can do it, then get the card. Don't mess up like so many of us do. You can mess up for 1 year, and take 6 correcting your mistakes. Also I hear Rewards 660 is a good card.

First you have to stop applying to places that have high requirements. You have to look online for "credit cards for people with bad credit" or "...no credit" There is a link below, but make sure your read the terms and conditions of each offer. The fees are high, and you often start out with a small credit limit because they take the fees from your available credit.
Otherwise, if you need a car and have money to put down, car loans are the easiest to get.
The last option is a co-signer.
Remember to be responsible and READ.

Get a debit card from the bank. At 18, you don't need a real credit card. You might try Orchard Bank....they deal with people with little to no or bad credit. Check the website.

Contact orchardbank.com.. you might have to put a deposit (secured credit card) but after you have paid your bill on time for 6-12 months you will get your deposit back. I did that 5 months ago and I also recieved a Capital One credit card without having to put a deposit down (unsecured) Good Luck.
