My friend live in NC,he has a job as Ass. Manager for a restaurant /fast food. He got a second job (evening shift) at Target. He can still do his job at the restaurant full day and afternoon shift. Well, they cut his pay ($1 less),cut his hours and he is not longer Ass. Manager but regular worker. Can they do this,is it legal? To me it's de motivation to find a second job. He really need the second job, very bad.
Thank you.

I work in Nashville, TN and my workplace is always having me stay a couple of more hours than I am scheduled to stay. This is bothersome because there are other people that could to 'prep' and it is not really my job. [once time to leave comes around] I do not mind doing this sometimes, but it gets to the point where it is an everyday thing. They do not ask if I can stay. They demand it, and say if I leave at my specified time then I will get wrote up and possibly fired.. Can they do that? I thought overtime was optional...

He was very hard working. He knew his technical field. But he was "laid-off" so that his manager could hire a crony. It's a technical field and he signed a 2 year "non-compete" agreement when he took his job. I would think that if a company lets you go, the non-compete should not be binding. Any opinions?

Let's say he or she works full time (40 hours), and I know they've got to be making decent money in tips, if they are serving several people per hour. I never did work in this field, but was curious to know how much they made with all those tips?

I have currently received an offer from a job and have other interviews lined up, but I have interviewed several times with the job I really want. Having an offer that has a start date of September 1st, how do I let the other job know that I need a decision so that I don't lose out on another offer? I want to basically pressure them into a decision, tactfully and without seeming overbearing.
I have been told that I am a top candidate and I am "nearing the finish line", but I have exactly two weeks to either accept or decline other offers. Any suggestions?

Ok, I'm doing some job hunting. On every application, there's a "reason for leaving" slot. Here's my reason for leaving: I'm tired of being taken advantage of and walked all over. Managment is VERY corrupt and lazy. Managment priorities are in the wrong place (more than willing to throw me under the bus when it comes time to get a bonus). I've been told to completely IGNORE the customers unless they specifically ask for my assistance (they're too focused on paper work), and i do NOT agree with it.

ok, so how do i put that in a more eloquant (sp?) sentence? hahaha

I am a rising senior in college and I am interested in working with a corporation's philanthropy or community development sector. Most corporations have foundations to support their community interests/giving but they don't provide information about how to become employed with these foundations. No information is listed in their career/jobs section either (most results are the popular finance/engineering jobs). Furthermore, philanthropy/non-profit job search websites don't return results for major companies. Can someone tell me how I can get my foot in the door for this industry?

I want to start a nonprofit organization, the problem is... I have no idea where to begin. I want to make it for underprivledged kids who live here in the United States (yes, they do exist).

What do I do though? Ideas, suggestions... anything!?

Thank you.

I work as a front greeter and the other day a lady came in who seemed nice enough. Little did I know, everything she had to say was racist, and then she started telling me that she "could be my mother" because we are from related, but distant ethnic backgrounds. She then told me who I'm allowed to marry and date and who I'm not allowed to. THEN, she goes off and says how much she hates Americans and then acts all sweet to my coworkers, who are all white!
This lady came in again a day ago and was very upset because in truth, she failed to take the necessary steps to ensure that she'd have a room (I'm in a hotel). We were nice and apologized and tried to explain to her what happened, however she became irate and then kept telling me that I should know better. And then she kept calling me "her kid". Seriously this woman is imbalanced-- we all think so along with the manager (who had to set her straight). How do I deal with her again, this is my last week? I'll attack her! What do I do?
