Depends on the size of the department, but, shift change for us is at 0700, duty officer fills us in on the happenings on our days off.

IF you were to have a shift with NO calls, this is how we lay ours out. Mind you.....we never have a shift go by with no calls

Check our trucks, and equipment (detailed checks).

Breakfast

Training (every day)

Lunch

Odds and ends, pretty much all the little crap that builds up throughout the week gets done here, minor repairs on equipment, hose testing etc.

Dinner

After dinner, it's pretty much free time. Out of bed by 0600, ready for shift change by 0645
