Maybe get certified in something, so I don't have to be in school for long. Any ideas what I should go for, that makes money too?

For two year degrees, there are a lot of fields, like lab tech, xray tech, sonographer, cytotechnologist, etc. With a four year degree, you can make even more money in the higher levels of the things I mentioned above, as well as physical therapist, respiratory therapist, etc. With five years, you can become a pharmacist, which pays really well.

You can go to a 2 year college and then take a licensing test to become a registered nurse or a respiratory therapist. RTs make $30-40+ per hour in California. RNs make about $40-50+ per hour. If you go to a public school (community college), it is pretty inexpensive, but a lot of work. It is so worth it, though. You'll make so much more than you would as a nursing assistant or pharmacy tech, which are shorter training.

My dear, nothing in the medical field, short of doctors and at least BA nurses make money. Nursing assistants, office medical assistants, medical transcriptionists, dental assistants, licensed nurses....all make nothing when you factor in the training required to begin, the continuing education needed annually, the long work hours and the exhausting workload. If you really want the medical field, then you need to commit to a LOT of school time. I recommend training to be a pharmacist assistant. You can be certified, and work in a clean, relatively safe environment and make fairly decent money. Just my opinion.

Two ways... First, get sick...lol... The second is more complicated. You need to enroll into a program for whatever level you are interested in. Some things, (MA or flabotomy) require just a certificate course, but others (PA & Dr) require a much more intensive undergrtad and graduate level course program. The most important question is how far do you wish to go and what time are you willing to commit to any program?
