I know some states have no min wage law, such as Arizona (to my knowledge, correct me if wrong!)

I also know that Kansas' current min wage is $2.65
(Where i'm living currently, but moving away from at the end of the month) Most jobs here offer something around 5 or 6 though.

Isn't federal something like 5?

What happens if that new min wage this passes (or was it passed? I havn't checked yet.. ) and the min wage is increased?

Somehow I thought federal meant absolute minimum everywhere?

Could someone explain to me how this all works, and maybe tell me how the kansas law works (or the states without the min wage law?)

I was fired by my employer of almost 12 years for filing a Workers Compensation Claim. This is illegal in my state and there is a legal action pending. I have been out of work a year but now that I am all healed up and ready to work I am at a loss as to what I should state as my reason for leaving. I don't really like putting the words "fired", "terminated", or "let go" on my application even if it was illegal to fire me. Also I don't want to make the impression that I am accident prone or a trouble maker or worse, that I was trying to get rich by getting hurt. I want to be honest especially since I know prospective employers are apt to contact my previous employer. A bad reference from this employer already cost me a possible job with the USPS. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The sooner I get back to work the better!
Thanks

The afternoon siesta, which was instituted to allow businesses to close in the heat of the day to allow workers and shoppers to rest and even take naps, is common in Spain, much of Latin America and in warmer climates throughout the world.

Typically shops close around 1 p.m. and re-open around 4 p.m. though the hours may vary from place to place.

Not everyone takes a nap. Some people just take family time at home. Others might read or relax or watch television.

Shops re-open about 4 p.m. and stay open late--9 to 11 p.m., depending on the business. After shops close families usually gather for a late dinner.

Even with air conditioning this custom persists in many countries.

Would you like to work or do business in an environment where these business hours were commonly practiced?

I have seen the siesta used in Spain and Vietnam, by the way.
